Casey Clausen on Rettig

Dude here is a great place to put this: http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-vols-recruiting/71998-10-ca-qb-chase-rettig-62.html I know its up to date but if it involves a player just put it in a player thread. I am not trying to be mean but I am up this late and I know tom morning someone would get on here and be alot more of an ass then I might seem. With summer being so dull and all of us expecting the top class now because of the miracle that is '09 class we are on here constantly. So if a new article comes up on GVX it will be in a thread within 20 minutes and if not its because 2 or 3 people have hijacked a thread for an argument and once that ends the article is up.

Seriously, everybody needs to chill out on stuff like this, especially if you are not a mod. Most people on this board do not go into the individual player threads in the recruiting forum.

What makes the board worse? A relevant article that a lot of us are interested in seeing and might have missed buried in a recruit's thread or message board police like you who find reasons to jump down people's throats for not posting in the right location?

If it is really that annoying to you then don't open the thread. Man, you recruiting junkies remind me of the guys in my IT department that act like smug jerks whenever someone needs them.

I would like for the record to say way back when I said this guy reminds me of Casey. And some folk on here said I was crazy. We now know Casey is invloved with this kid so I look like a genius:)

or like some of us you could have already known casey was involved with rettig's development.

but without knowing that and making the observation is somewhat impressive...keen eye brother

Absolutely. There is so much non-sense cluttering up those threads (and I've been guilty too) that finding good info is a challenge at times. A new thread for new info is no problem at all.

As long as he plays with Casey's intelligence, moxy, and passion... and not with his lack of talent... that's outstanding.

I know this opens a can of worms but Clausen had the right head and heart... but wrong arm and legs.

Yeah, I did not know. But hopefully he has all the positives Casey had and not the negatives. Has anyone measured his hands? Is the kid a drinker? Does he work out a lot?

He clearly has Casey's cool "iceman" approach to playing QB and is deadly accurate under 20 like Casey. Hopefully, unlike Casey, if he comes here, he will work out to develop arm strength and stay in shape. And does not have small hands that become an issue in cold weather games.

Rettig seems to have the arm. I just hope he is confident but not overly cocky like Clausen was.

I realize it can be a very fine line between the two but, while I did meet Casey more than a few times and couldn't stand him personally off the field, being cocky on the field made him a much more effective QB than his natural talent seemed to aloow for. I may not want to be his friend but I'll take a little bit of cockiness between the lines.

Casey had all the skills to be an NFL QB in my opinion. I have met and drank with the man, only once I was working with his former roommate not saying I am his best bud. But, he is beyond cocky he was cocky to the pointed of blinded ignorance. I suspect he is older now and has mellowed that is how most guys work. But he boasted not working out and just playing on talent, like it was cool he could party and play well too. If he had hit the gyms and studied playbooks and film he would be in the NFL.

On a similar note, I have been Rick Clausen's teammate in beer pong several times. He's a dead-eye.

I agree. I actually like to see a new thread when news breaks. It's better than scrolling through a thread browsing through 2 or 3 pages of off topic stuff looking for new information.

He had some pretty amazing athletes around him that made up for his shortcomings. I prefer a guy who expects to win and has no reason to get cocky when he does.

His mimicking of Peyton and trying to lead the band was an embarassment.

casey has clearly had some influence on rettig's hair

if casey can tech him how to beat florida in the swamp a couple of times, that would be excellent. step one might be to have ron zook be the coach

Yeah, I vote to remove Florida from our schedule and insert any team Ron Zook is coaching that year.

Casey Clausen didn't have the skills to be an NFL towel boy.
