Only part that really stood out to me was when he told them they were the best of the best, and they don't even realize it.

I think under Dooley, many of the players lacked the confidence to go toe-to-toe with Alabama and Florida. And in late game situations like Mizzou and UGA, our guys folded.

I also think it reflects in our fanbase. I'm glad to be rid of Saban disciples. I don't want to be Alabama. I don't want to be USC. I want to be UT. We are the best on our own, and I hope Jones is the guy to instill that in our team.

This man IS a football coach!!! It will not be easy, but I am willing to bet we will be able to compete again. That IS the first step! GO BIG ORANGE!!

Agree....he has it.

And he is so pumped about becoming the head coach at the University of Tennessee....where legends are made. This man will have no quit in him and his team will follow suit.

Good hire, maybe the best hire that could have been made.

With his drive and fire which will inspire the team, I think 8 wins is possible especially if the defense steps up. We will score points but got to have the D.

After all of the crap we have endured these past couple weeks ( cough.....four years) it is kinda exciting to watch CBJ and listen to his team speech. I want to believe. Go Vols!

Kiffin had those guys playing with confidence I mean we went toe to toe with bama and UF with walk on starters on the offensive line...butch is the right man for the job he believes in UT

It must be pretty surreal to be Herman Lathers in that meeting. Recruited by Fulmer, then played under Kiffin for a year, Dooley for three years, and ending his career with a presentation from Butch Jones.

Great post OP and thread contributors. It's great to come on this board and see the fan base rally around CBJ.

Wow!

Some highlights from the team meeting that struck home to me:

You win championships with Defense. We will have what I call a Tennessee Swagger.

Offensively it's a mind set of fast and furious. We are going to be a no huddle, up tempo offense. We are going to play fast but we are going to be a pro style offense. We're going to throw the football and we are going to run the ball.

Special teams will be a weapon for us. We take care of the football. Defensively we're going to have ball disruptions. We're going to take the football away.

Goal is to Win the SEC and the National Championship and that's what is going to drive us every day.

I came here for a reason. To win championships. You don't know what you have. You are the best of the best.

His players at Cincinnati love him.

I have a feeling they will love him here as well.

Go get 'em Butch!
