CBJ on 2014 challenges…...

CBJ is spot on. Anyone who EXPECTS this team to win 7-9 games is setting themselves up for disappointment and frustration. I think come maybe 2015 but probably 2016 they'll be about to compete for a SEC Championship.

Why can't this team win 7 of these games?

Actually think that Ole Miss is most difficult team on here, the rest of the games are absolutely winnable. (including the UF)

I agree. That's why I don't think 7 wins is too far fetched for this season. There are 8 "winnbale" games on this schedule.

With you 100% THIS TEAM IS NOT GOING TO WIN 8 OR 9 GAMES THIS YEAR, to young everywhere up front where you win in this league we are young and thin get 6 wins out of this bunch and win the bowl and would be a heck of a year and get top 15 recruiting class, then next year get 8 wins then in 2016 we will be back at the top playing for the EAST and maybe a chance at Atlanta, that's where we are at in this process we cant speed it up coach Jones will take Tennessee back to the glory years if we give him a chance got to be patient.

I just think it's funny that everyone harps on our offensive and defensive lines being too "young and inexperienced" to win in the SEC.

As far as I can tell, having senior-laden lines didn't do us a damn bit of good last year, because we still went 5-7.

Count me in the camp that thinks we won't see much, if any drop-off in either line this year.

We will beat one of those but we will lose 1 that we should win most talented young teams win 1 they should not and lose 1 that they should win, go 6 and 6 and stay on the wagon instead of jumping off because we lose 1 that we should win, coach Jones will bring Tennessee back we the fans got to hang in there and stand behind this team win or lose we cant spilt the fan base.:good!:

CFB is no much difference than FB played at any level. Older players win more than younger ones, if the talent and coaching is near the same. The fact we are depending on so many true freshmen to come in and contribute if not start should tell any fan all they need to know. 7 is our ceiling this year and that is generous and if the wheels fall off injuries, youth, etc then 4 could be the max.

I will be hoping against hope for a W in every game but we just have to far to go. Look at it like this if a freshmen starts who will be his back up? Thats right, the older guy he beat out. We will be all the way back when we have juniors and seniors as our main players and freshmen only play when they are exceptional, like Jamal Lewis. Going to take Butch 4 or 5 years to get the roster built back like that and that is only if he doesn't miss much.

Of course I hope we shock the world and win the East but I don't see it.

Utah St. won 9 games last year and beat a ranked N. Illinois team in their bowl game. They have been to a bowl game 3 straight years and have won 2 of the 3.

Arkansas St. won 8 games last year, including their bowl game. They have had 3 straight winning seasons and, like Utah St. have been to 3 straight bowls, winning 2 of the 3.

It is hard for me to fathom UF again being as bad as they were last year. On the other hand, I can't see UM being as good as they were last year, Vandy too for that matter.

These are all winnable games assuming we get good freshmen contributions on defense and the OL steps up. But from a depth standpoint, UT's margin for error/injury will be much, much smaller than Bama/LSU/Auburn et al. I am really hopeful for a bowl season, but I think CBJ is still 1 recruiting class away from a breakout season.

Ole Miss is a much better team than we are. Mizzouri has a good team to run their system. Florida always plays better than we do. We will win one of those three at most.

Ole Miss was 4-8 in 2010
Ole Miss was 2-10 in 2011
Ole Miss was 7-6 in 2012 with a new coach
Ole Miss was 8-5 in 2013 with a bunch of freshmen (4 of whom were named to the all-SEC freshmen team).

I don't think our situations are much different other than they fired their coach after he lost to Kentucky in 2011 and we didn't. Hence, they may now be a year ahead of us in their turnaround.

I agree with your last 2 paragraphs. UF will never be an easy game and Ole Miss will be pretty good this year as well. Vandy should suck.

Back to your 1st 2 paragraphs. If UT can't come out of the gate and beat USU then this program is in deep sh&t.

Its funny other teams always see an increase in wins the 2nd year of good coaching but only at tn it takes a min of 4 years to even expect some improvement... This includes fb n bb because the talent left behind is always worse than what others started with...lol classic

Anything less than 6 n 6 and we are in trouble long term. This staff has to show why cbj considers them the best staff in america and get us to a bowl game min.

My point in the first two paragraphs is that these are not your typical lower profile, open-the-season type opponents. These are seasoned football teams that have a recent history of winning, going to bowl games, and winning those bowl games. They're good teams.

.... where have you been the last 6 years??

Patience as in 6-8 wins this year then improvement going forward? I'm on board. No sane person expects a championship this year. Patience as in accepting another 5 win season or worse? Sorry... but no.

USU also beat 6 teams on their schedule with a losing record. another team was 6-6 and and another was 7-6. they lost to about every decent team they played. Many of their wins were against the worst FBS teams out there. they also had more turnover than we did and have to travel 2000 miles East.
