If Joe Milton wins the job it does not automatically mean Nico won’t be a great quarterback done the road. This is just pure journalist sensationalism trying to stir the pot. Everything will work out just fine. I fully trust Heupel and staff can handle the situation just fine. GBO
I think meth and its suppliers and users has a firm grip on most rural counties. West TN is hit hard too. I am a teacher and >25% of my students cannot live with their parents due to meth abuse.I agree east TN has more meth labs than churches these days.. then again have you been to Missouri? I don't do illicit substances but If I lived there I might change my mind
Yeah, my biggest issue is the rumor-mongering in the bolded comment about "early word being that Nico isn't worth the $8 million". I've heard nothing to suggest that. In fact, quite the opposite based on early returns. Just not sure where Dodd is getting his info.
I'm less concerned about how much time before he can trun pro and more concerned with who gives us the best chance to win this year and what's going to help Nico be successful here in the long term.I would be glad if this were true, but it's not likely. The Nico official "time remaining clock" is almost running now. Even if he redshirted this coming season, he would still only have 2 years remaining to play before he could turn pro. So I'd use him as much as possible this year.
That’s awful for those kids. I can’t believe people are still doing that stuff with so much fentanyl killing people.I think meth and its suppliers and users has a firm grip on most rural counties. What early reports and what sources? The early reports suggest he has yet to set foot on the field during a game. Sources say Nico hasn't even bothered to show up for spring practice . That's concerning for sure. If he isn't game ready by March 20th or so , we'll know he's a bust. I'll keep following CBS. There's definitely some smoke there. Good job keeping everyone in the loop Dodd and company. Catch that sideburn dude and pass it.
What early reports and what sources?
He. Is. A. Freshman.
I hope Milton plays well so he can RS unless he's just amazing right now which would be an exception to the rule.
Your secret is safe with me. And my sources tell me that Milton is really Nico in disguise and the big reveal is coming.Credible sources I can't say due to NDA

**** sorry
I hope Nico’s performance on the field is better than his acting.1. Joe Milton is the absolute man. This is his team this year.
2. CBS is dumb and doesn't understand marketability. Go buy some Force Factor products.
Nico Iamaleava on Instagram: "I fuel with @forcefactor because the world’s top athletes know that reaching your goals starts with healthy living and quality nutrition. Shop now @walmart and Unleash Your Potential. #forcefactorpartner #forcefactor #walmart #walmartfinds"
Yeah let's throw him in the fire before he's ready. Worked well for JG and Dobbs. Doesn't matter if he plans on staying 5. Maybe he gets hurt one year. Maybe it gives him a chance to bulk up and learn the playback.Doubt he is ever going to consider staying a 5th year and NO reason to redshirt if that is not the case. Get all the reps he CAN this year, unless it is more due to a must situation. Doubt he sees 4, much less 5 years. Hope he gets lots of reps after Joe and CO. have put it away early.
News flash: nice try but there is no Vol QB battle in ‘23. Unless Milton gets injured or chokes. Then “Nico I am” better be ready to play. Can’t afford to RS Nico I am bc Heup didn’t pick up an experienced backup QB in the portal.Article from CBS, but some shade being thrown at Nico in the closing comments. Kind of odd, because all I've heard is that he has met or surpassed all expectations, thus far.
"22. The Nico Iamaleava era begins at Tennessee: Iamaleava was the early NIL poster boy reportedly signing a three-year, bonus-laden $8 million NIL deal with a Tennessee collective. One small detail: Iamaleava, a five-star prospect from California, must beat out veteran Joe Milton, who can throw it from here to next Thursday and is familiar with Josh Heupel's explosive offense. The quarterback battle winner must somehow resemble Hendon Hooker. How Iamaleava lives up to his contract will be mixed in with new offensive coordinator Joey Hazle. You won't believe this -- actually, you will -- but there are already whispers Iamaleava isn't worth the $8M. Tennessee is covered as closely as the White House."
We can if Milton plays well and stays healthy. He can still play in 4 games.News flash: nice try but there is no Vol QB battle in ‘23. Unless Milton gets injured or chokes. Dennis Dodd, so take it with a boulder of salt.
Dodd is blabbering, he isn’t getting any worthwhile info. GBOYeah, my biggest issue is the rumor-mongering in the bolded comment about "early word being that Nico isn't worth the $8 million". If we get into summer practice and he's just better right now, fine, but there is zero reason to rush him out there unless it is blatantly obvious.
It’s not an affordable luxury with him being the next guy up after Milton. He’ll need to get meaningful game reps throughout the season. With his talent, you’re not getting him for four years unless something went horribly wrong.He. Is. A. Freshman.
I hope Milton plays well so he can RS unless he's just amazing right now which would be an exception to the rule.
He gets hurt one year, you have an available redshirt. No one’s advocating “rushing” him. That’s why Milton’s the projected starter. But getting him acclimated to the speed of the game at this level is better for his development when he takes over the next year.Yeah let's throw him in the fire before he's ready. He has 5 years with a redshirt whether he takes it now or later. He can still play in 4 games. Plan on redshirting. If there's a situation where he NEEDS to play in a 5th game, burn the redshirt. I think you're banking on us being up by enough for the 2s to be in for more than 4 games. I'm not willing to go that far yet.Did not even allude to putting him on the field EARLY, but to not restrict him to four games THIS YEAR, so he can be better prepared when he is the best option for the team. Redshirting would of course provide the opportunity to enter the draft with TWO years of eligibility remaining. YEAH. Those reps might pay off in the ever so unlikely chance our starter is injured with a couple of games to go. OH WAIT....
