But I want Kentucky and Ole Miss to get beat. Our RPI will be fine if we take care of business. We need other bubble teams to get it handed to them.

Yea, I think we need to root for A&M. When two teams play that we played, generally, I think you want the one you beat to win. It also depends on where they are in the RPI. OM is not dropping out of the Top 100 with a loss. A&M is 84, and we need them inside 100 for a Top 100 road win. That is our only true road game win in the Top 100.

As far as UK, we can dream, but we know that MSU has no chance.

LSU is our friend the next 2 weeks. They play Ole Miss and Alabama, I think. They beat Ark. last weekend too.

Even Virginia. I hate to see teams that's beat us lose but our RPI will be strong enough winning out. Plus, we'll have 4 top 50 wins. The only SEC team I'm rooting for at this point is LSU because they can help us get an SEC tournament bye and our victory over them is considered another top 100 win.

Yep, no doubt about LSU. Oakland hurt us a little. About 2 weeks ago, they got to about 106 in the RPI, but I think they have fallen. They have lost some bad games this year.

Yup. It would have been better to lose to Oakland again than let Georgia beat us. That loss is without Golden though but I'm not sure how much of that will be considered. Oakland has a ton of bad loses. The Xavier victory over Memphis was very good for us. That team had been struggling lately and has a chance to close out really strong against UMASS, St Louis and Butler.

Why does that site say Ole Miss needs to beat A&M? Isn't it the opposite since OM is a bubble team, too? Is it because they beat us twice & need a good RPI? But, we're fighting with them for one of the last spots.

Because an Ole Miss victory would increase our RPI due to them sweeping us. The CBS thing doesn't account for SECT byes.

Ah, ok. Thanks, Shaun. I've read the discussion about the tourney bye & on The Locker Room, a local show that has Coach Tony Jones & Ryan Childress on it, they said we'd be better off without the bye. They said we need wins most of all & that would give us a better chance at a couple or more wins.

Dang, I don't know who to root for now. I hate Henderson with a passion, lol. It's a dilemma tonight because A&M is one of our good road wins.

No problem man!

I for sure don't agree with Tony Jones or Ryan Childress. To make the NCAA tournament, we need to win these next three games. We still could get in with a home loss to Mizzou but your talking about 4 or 5 points either way on our RPI possible. If we do what we are suppose to do, the double bye is pretty much ours when the cards fall IMO. Losing to Mizzou is almost impossible (if not actually impossible) to get a double bye. I just pointed out that I would appreciate a 5 seed because I want the extra points of playing a top 4 SEC team in the tournament. I'm assuming that we take care of business in the second round against a weaker team just to get use to the gym and the rims. Of course this is for sure a trap game because I would imagine the tourney comittee isn't going to care nearly as much if we beat a south carolina / miss state / vandy type of team but it would look pretty horrible losing it. I like the chances though and think a warm up game would give us a better chance to beat a better team in the second game.

Not 100% sure but I think RPI is the most important factor in deciding who gets in.. so take the RPI boost

(Not a man, lol) I'm confused. You think we'd be better off with the double bye, or tying at 4th but losing the tiebreaker (which I think is likely) so as a 5 seed we'd get a first game bye but then play on Thursday? Or do you want a double bye? I agree with what you said next about playing a warm up game (though like you, I've seen us lose more than win in that tournament). I don't think I'll ever see us win one!

I shouldn't read their minds, but I think they were thinking we need to win out best case scenario, but still play on Thursday (not Wed) as a 5 or whatever seed. I know we lose a tiebreaker with Ole Miss but I'm not sure about Ky. They did say IF we lose one game, we can still make it with two wins in the SECT, which is probably right assuming the loss is to Missouri.

We want any team we played twice to win, technically. This is because part of the RPI formala is the W-L record of your opponents. So when Ole Miss, KY, Bama, Vandy and UGA win it really increases that area of our RPI.

However, I do get the flip side that Ole Miss tanking would free up a spot and improve our SEC standings. Here's the thing though, we win and take care of business and our RPI will be just fine. Part of me would like Ole Miss to close strong because I think we could both get in and it helps the SEC, but at the same time seeing them struggle wot cause me to shed a tear.
