I see, yet again, that an article can't include any mention of Nico without a reference to his NIL. No other player's NIL was mentioned, not even Arch Manning's nearly 3.5 million per year. Yet, Nico supposedly has this imaginary pressure to "live up to his NIL deal".
The different takes for TN are interesting. TN fans think we don’t get the respect we deserve from national media and officials. Some think we TN fans overreact, stating we are treated no differently than other schools.

My take is somewhere in b/t. We are fanatics starving for championships. But w don’t get the respect we deserve overall for some reason.

Most articles around Nico discuss his NIL deal. While I read most TN news, I stay up to speed with most other schools/new. Rarely is NIL mentioned with Arch.

I used to think it es b/c we were in the south but so is Bama and the media loves them, esp. football.

I feel pretty good about our chances in Tuscaloosa this year TBH. I really don’t think it’s all that far fetched to say that Atlanta is a real possibility. The schedule lines up well, and if the right guys make the jumps that they’re supposed to, we could be pretty good.

Me too, I think we start our own streak in Tuscaloosa this fall.........

All teams have question marks going into this upcoming season. TN biggest is around OL and WR biggest loss from last year's team. OL to me is all about Center position. How well do we play here. I honestly believe the rest of the OL is better and it will show. Again WR very talented but inexperienced. Season could be Great but average as well. There is to me one for sure thing. Talent level across the board is at its best. In CHRIST Alone

National writers have to cover 100s of different players in their catch all type articles. They pick one or two little tidbits that are approved by their editors and run with it. Anybody paying attention knows that Nico is probably not highest paid QB in the conference.

We will read that over and over until his tenure in college sports is done.

I have a good feeling about the trip to Tuscaloosa as well. I think people have forgotten we nearly won there in 2023, we just blew it in the second half. And that was against Saban himself. I don’t get why so many people think we’re destined to lose there, it’s not like DeBoer exactly impressed anybody last season.

We should’ve blown them out in the first half of that game. It was there for the taking and we didn’t score in the red zone when we had opportunities. It legitimately could’ve been 28-0 or 28-7. The same could be said this season as well. We fumbled on the opening drive, missed guys on multiple deep balls that got behind the defense. We’ve come out ready to play every year that Heupel has been here. In theory we could’ve/shouldve blown them out in the first half the past 3 seasons.

Saw it in 2001. And in South Bend.
And we lost to freaking Georgia at home that year, before the meltdown in the Georgia Dome with Pasadena on the line. That whole sequence of events is one I will never get over, from the high and low within a minute or two in the Hobnail Boot game, the high of beating Florida in Gainesville to that atrocity in the SECCG.

Meh. I got us at 9-3. O-line issues are gonna hurt is

Can't say I would be entirely disappointed with 9-3 honestly. Kind of a year like 2023. Maintain par while we reload just a bit and get some experience for the young guys.

Far cry from where we were five years ago I know that much. Now we kind of pooh pah or yawn at a 9-3 season when we would have killed for one quite recently.
