Wouldn't UF get the #2 spot because the would lose in the SECCG?So LSU in this is the SEC #2, yet Florida gets the at large bid? I dont see how that adds up, because wouldnt that mean that LSU beat Florida, or at least had less SEC losses than Florida, which would mean both had 3 or more and neither would be the SEC #2?
Not necessarily...If LSU doesn't win the West, and Auburn is the winner and still undefeated, and UF was the loser of that game, it stands to reason, that LSU could still be ranked higher by viture of UF losing and LSU not even playing...this also depends on who wins head to head....if LSU wins over UF, they will be higher ranked than UF at the time the game is played...likely top 10, with it's only loss to Auburn, who is undefeated.Wouldn't UF get the #2 spot because the would lose in the SECCG?
So the SEC rankings are based somewhat on the overall rankings? Not necessarily...If LSU doesn't win the West, and Auburn is the winner and still undefeated, and UF was the loser of that game, it stands to reason, that LSU could still be ranked higher by viture of UF losing and LSU not even playing...this also depends on who wins head to head....if LSU wins over UF, they will be higher ranked than UF at the time the game is played...likely top 10, with it's only loss to Auburn, who is undefeated.
so Auburn and LSU could get the bids.
Now if UF were to win...they might select Auburn to go as an at large...and UF would go to the Sugar.
the key here does not lie SEC standings...remember, you are talking about an at large bid to the BCS, which does not require a conf. championship to get in...just a high enough ranking in the BCS.So the SEC rankings are based somewhat on the overall rankings?
Have a great time and good luck!Right now, there are three teams that control their own destinies in the SEC. Auburn, Florida, and Georgia. Everyone else needs help of some sort.
If Florida loses to LSU or Auburn, they still control their own destiny because winning out means beating UGA and with one loss we own the tiebreaker over you.
UGA also controls its own destiny via similar logic.
I got my tickets yesterday for Florida-- LSU. Going to be a heckuva' game. Very hard hitting, I believe. I'd like to see Florida get the offense in gear a little earlier than the middle of the third quarter, if you don't mind.
Independance Bowl: Iowa State vs. Kentucky...
...Kentucky?!?lol:
Edit: Ok, after checking out their schedule, looks they do have a chance at 6 wins. They jsut have to run the gauntlet of...Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Louisiana-Monroe (lol). Looks as if that win over Ole Miss was a BIG one for the Cats program.

If WVU was to make the NC game and beat on OSU, USC, Mich., AUB. then it would definitely be a legit championship. I think they proved they were a legit team after what they did to UGA last year in the Sugar Bowl. Here is a BIG IF. What if WVU makes it to the NC game and beats say Ohio State. If that were to happen given thier weak schedule and conf. would it be a legit championship?
