So CBS rejects a gay dating site ad, but allows a Tim Tebow abortion ad that is not even true?

I don't particularly like the running of political or social issue ads during the superbowl. But, I confesss that it to some degree because I am used to the tradition of SB ads being funny or flashy or what have you.

But, at the same time, I don't care if people want to pay for and air commercials over those things. Its their money. Not like a 30 second spot on something like abortion or gay rights is going to change anyone's mind on either subject, especially when running sandwiched between an ad for Hooters and one featuring talking frogs.

So...you do not have a problem with a person trying to promote a false image?

I confess I've not been paying any attention to the controversy over it so I don't know exactly what you are talking aobut when you say it protrays someone, presumably Tebow, in a "false image."

I really don't care. In fact, I kind of laugh at the fact that it appears that the commercial is having the desired effect because it has people running stories and commentaries and starting threads about it.

Its a SB ad about abortion. Who cares who is in it? Who is going to have their opinion direven by a SB ad?

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Focus on the Family pull the ad and ride the free publicity while playing the victim.

While we agree, I find it somewhat distasteful that the Tebow's find it necessary to falsify their life story to help promote their cause.

The validity of the story, or what you get out of the AD, is for the public to decided.

If they have the 2.5 mil. that it cost to run the add, they have just as much right as Budweiser, or anyone else to run it.

You are making assumptions that you have no idea about. I have come to expect better of you sir.
It is MS Alred that is streeeeetching the facts.

The doctors knew that she was an American. They very well could have told her to go home and abort the baby.
We have no idea.

Then there is much more to the story then, flying a woman back to the states from the Philippines in her condition was extremely bad advice.

Either you think the ad should air or you don't. Resorting to a debate about the details of Pam Tebow's life story is a little bit of a red herring IMO.

Sorry, I thought there was a forum for this sort of thing?
You've got me there. :)

My point is that I think it's a little disingenuous to say the ad shouldn't air because the story is inaccurate. For most making that argument, there's clearly an ulterior motive.

So, you want to debate if the tactics used, by the people that are against this ad, are pathetic or not?

What makes anyone think that the Tebows are making this up? (being against the message is not a reason)

I really don't care whether it airs or not. I just happen to be snowbound, the family is visiting the in-laws and I thought there was too much rights to free speech going on in here.

Hopefully, no one thinks I take anything Allred does as gospel?

I thought it was interesting that its illegal in the Philippines and BTW they have one hell of a Hospital over in Subic Bay (or did?). It could show the Tebow's in an outright lie.

That makes me feel a lot better there MV.

Do we know at what week in the pregnancy she was advised to do this?

Yes, it could.
My point is, I do not have a reason to doubt her.
The people that do not want this ad run, do.
