CCM is the 9th best coach in the NCAAT...

Some of you guys act like we were a freaking super power in the world of college basketball when Bruce Pearl was at Tennessee. We didn't win nothing under BP he was just a little more flashy with better talent. Half of this fanbase so silly it's not even funny. Here we are about to make our first tournament appearance in 3-4years and we can't even get our heads out of our butts to support our basketball team! Then we wonder why they play uninspired at times. Its like everytime you come on here "fire CCM","bench Maymon","re-hire Bp" or Stokes is over-rated! To be honest we really need to just get on for the ride and just enjoy these next few games!

Let's see we were ranked #1 while Pearl was here and went to the first Elite 8 appearance in UT history and was 1 point from the final 4. Not to mention the boost in attendance while he was the coach so yeah he was a pretty big deal. What has Martin done in his first three years oh yeah he has us in a play in game, a play in game. IMO Pearl and Martin should never be compared as far as coaching talent.

I still can't get past the fact that going into this season we had 3 talented, experienced players in Stokes, Maymon, & McRae. So now we're doing a play-in game for the honor of being, drum roll please, ...an 11th seeded team? What is wrong with this picture??

It does suck to be in the play-in round no doubt, but it gives us a chance to make a run. However, there is something wrong with the picture you painted..Maymon. All the expectations for this year were built on the fact that we were getting back the 2012-13 SEC pre-season player of the year in Maymon. Well guess what, we got about half that. If Maymon was the player he was, with Stokes now in his 2nd full year, we would have only lost 4 or 5 games IMO. Dont get me wrong, I love what Maymon does for this team, but he's not who he was and never will be. There are still a number of games we shouldnt have lost and the coaching has been suspect at times this year, but its not the pretty picture you paint with Stoke, McRae and Maymon.

This might be the best post I've seen on here in a while. They complain about making the tourney and then we make it and they complain about the seed. Was I disappointed about how some of the season went? Yes, but I'm getting the f over it and enjoying our chance to possibly make a run. Geez my pregnant fiancé is less moody and less whinny than 1/2 of y'all on here.

Hey WKU has a chance to make a run too. Think they'll win the champ? No. Neither will we based on the data provided the past 3 seasons. Facts don't lie.

Powerhouse no. A glimpse at a chance to be a powerhouse and better than where we were, YES. That's all these people want. To be ranked again. To not have to worry if we are going to make the tournament of 68 teams. 68! That means the past two years we haven't even been the 68th best team. And this year we are like 66. Unacceptable. I won't pay to watch that.

You aren't familiar with how seeding and invitations work are you? You ever heard of something called automatic bids? No way we are the 66th best team in the tournament.

There's actually a chart which shows where every team ranked. Seems like we were 45th or something like that. Definitely not 66th.

I can think of 3 off the top of my head with better career numbers: Cal, Donovan, Stallings. Stallings went to 2 NCAA tourneys in 6 years in the MVC.

What does what Stallings did in the MVC have to do with what he's doing at Vandy?

Since Martin joined the SEC he has the 3rd best winning % of all the coaches in the league.

First of all I am not a Stallings fan.

I was simply stating that Stallings has made 2 tourneys from the MVC and Cuonzo didn't make any. Seemed like a fair comparison since they both coached in the same league. Stallings has gone to 8 tourneys in 22 years overall, CCM 1 in 6. Stallings Vandy winning % 60.3, CCM 60.0. Looks Stallings is a better coach to me.

What stallings did 20 years ago while Martin was playing in college really doesn't matter to me. Since Martin joined the SEC he has been better than stallings, this isn't that difficult. If Martin had 4 NCAAT appearances previous to Tennessee, but had 0 now, would we be saying how good he is because he had 4 previous trips at a different school?

How about if Stallings has 3 tourneys since CCM started coaching 6 years and CCM has 1?

Once again, what CCM did at MST doesn't really concern me, same for Stallings pre Zo joining the SEC. Since Zo has joined the SEC he has been better than Stallings and about 10 other coaches as well.

Stallings and CCM both have made 1 tourney the last 3 years. Stallings made it to the 3rd round and CCM tbd. So to me it is still up in the air who has had a better last 3 years. It absolutely matters what a guys does before he gets to UT. A good example is Dooley vs Jones. One wins championships at the previous stops one guy doesn't.

So postseason play is all that matters? The regular season doesn't matter?

Regular season matters also. Stallings and CCM overall winning % is within a few points so its a wash the last few years, CCM conference record is a lot better so he has the edge there but Stallings tournament appearance would give the edge to him in the 3 year period because he won a couple games IMO unless CCM does the same.

I own a business and played college sports. I evaluate coaches like I do employees. I look at a coaching acumen, recruiting ability, track record and his teams future potential to win at a high level. I don't see CCM grading out very high in any of these areas so if he were one of my employees I would make a change before things went too far downhill. He does not have what it takes to be successful at UT long term IMO. It will be a slow decline. (This has nothing to do with CBP.)

Looking at the last 3 years Martin looks like a much better employee than Stallings

If I had a basketball job and had to hire one of them it would be Stallings hands down. Wouldn't even be a second thought.

He'll be hugging Cuanzo's nuts up to the day he gets canned, i particularly enjoy his wasted efforts trying to convince any person with a shred of common sense that Cuanzo is anything other than a fair to middlin coach. Winning 60% of your games in a conference like ours is really something to hang your laurels on apparently.
