Cuonzo has been in and around basketball his entire life. He was one of the best SG when he played for Purdue, the man knows who can hoop and who can't. Cuonzo looks for guys who work hard ingame and on the practice court. There HAS to be a reason for recruiting these types of players, he didn't just have his head in his ass and decide to randomly recruit this guy. Everything gets thought out, we just don't see it yet until it finally fits togethers, and that's how sports works.
No, it's more like find 1 or 2 high caliber guys and surround them with low Div. 1, Div 2, or NAIA caliber players.
Even Austin Peay or Lipscomb wouldn't take a guy averaging 2 pts. and 2 rebs. per game.
Iin the long run it's more about simply getting players that fit ccm's system and work hard. The guy knows basketball, let him do his job.
Exactly. The thing that confuses me is people were wanting to fire Martin after a loss his first year, and after his second year because he didn't give instantaneous results. But now, they're complaining about what the 2014-15 season will be like, and complaining about that. Make up your minds.
I am more neutral towards him but I dont have alot of confidence in him right now.....The reason why people wanted him fired so quick is bc they werent happy with him being hired....He has to show he was the right choice which he has failed to do so far....My hope is that he will kick butt this season(which he should) which we will help his recruiting get better and he will grow into the coach that we need.
But the question is, who would have taken over that situation besides a guy like Cuonzo? If it wasn't him, it was going to be another mid major coach on his level. Nobody with the experience that this fanbase thinks it is entitled to would come here with that mess with the NCAA. He's done a fine job considering everything and deserves to at least finish his contract unless he goes 10-20 or so. If the AD decides at that point to not renew it, so be it, but he's done plenty to have that much.
