But the question is, who would have taken over that situation besides a guy like Cuonzo? If it wasn't him, it was going to be another mid major coach on his level. Nobody with the experience that this fanbase thinks it is entitled to would come here with that mess with the NCAA. He's done a fine job considering everything and deserves to at least finish his contract unless he goes 10-20 or so. If the AD decides at that point to not renew it, so be it, but he's done plenty to have that much.
It doesn't work like that. I don't know of a single coach at a decent program who "worked out his contract."
You either renew his deal every year or two or you fire him. That's how it works. Having a coach with two or less years left on his deal will crush you in recruiting. It would be cheaper to fire a coach than to keep a lame duck for multiple years while you wait on his deal to run out.
