Um, hate to tell you this but Tennessee basketball has never been anything BUT average.

I'm guessing you're about 15 years old and have no clue what you're talking about.

What's average about sweet sixteens, an elite eight and 6 (I think its six, not sure off the top of my head) straight tourney appearances.

I am an asst bball coach in Indiana. I know more abt basketball than you ever will and cbp was obviously too good for you idiots. Have fun in the NIT.

Fun fact: If Pearl were still coaching UT, they wouldn't be eligible for the NIT. How is UT at fault in his firing?

Church leage doesn't count homer!

I'm not sure where you were, maybe in the church league finals, but you must have missed pearl last year? Get BLOWN out and EMBARASSED, in the first round, with a roster twice that of what CCM has.

I'm sorry but if CCM makes the tourney with this team and you look at what Pearl did with last years team, there is no arguing who's the better "coach".

I don't think many Vol fans doubt Pearl's accomplishments. I don't. I know UT had no choice in moving on and is doing very well considering circumstances

I will be the first to admit I liked what bruce did here, but if you can't admit that coach martin has done a remarkable job then I question your basketball knowledge. Props to the team and coach. They believe in each other and that is anything but average.

This. Almost every Vol fans were upset about what happened. However, we can be happy with CCM without diminishing CBP's work at UT. Every national analyst I hear is talking about CCM and what he's done. No need for anyone to diminish it just because they are upset with Pearl's dismissal

Never thought wed be so happy with 13 losses and a slim ass chance to get to the tourney. Hope you enjoy being avg.

I enjoy being average when several very knowledgeable people looked at our roster and said we were supposed to suck this season. We now have 17 wins with a team that was supposed to have trouble getting into double digits in victories.

And the fact that we don't suck, given the current make-up of the roster and the fact that our new coach hasn't even had time to get very many of his own players into the mix, makes me think that we have a very good chance to be above-average in the very near future.

Nobody has said anything worthwhile here. All you guys did was attack me with no real facts or anything to base it off of. I am a HUGE tenn fan, the institution will forever be in my blood. Kvegas has alot of sentimental value. Its the place i saw my first CFB, CBB games, and also the place I got my Bachelors degree, met my fiance and some of my best friends. Neyland stadium was the last place i saw my big bro before he died and TBA is the last place I saw my Grandpa before he passed.I met peyton at calhouns and met haynes at neyland one year. I bleed orange, NOBODY loves this place more than I, and nobody wants to see this program succeed more. Not fairweather here.

Tennessee is a Football school. 100%. No doubt abt it. Before CBP, the rank of importance of Tennessee sports were the following:

1.) Football
2.) Womens Basketball
3.) Spring football

So to say the least, nobody had given this progam anything. You guys can say "Oh I always supported this progam through thick and thin", but if thats true, then why was the tommy bowl empty? Dane Bradshaw said that he could hear what people were talking about in the stands!

The program was dead. We got a good coach, who went against the grain with everything we actually wanted. A loud, cocky, literally crazy coach came here, livened up the place and BEAT the bigs of the world with a less than talented team. We had the 2 seed, a couple sweet 16s, and the first elite 8 in program history, big time recruits, and was consistently the team to beat in conference. SO YOU CAN NOT TELL ME THIS 13, gonna be 14-15 loss team is anything to be excited about when we cut a coach who would have had us on probation, maybe a one year ban, but would have kept us in the top 25 like we have been.

to the idiot that said we have been average. im sorry, but 17-14 is one hell of alot more average than 145-61.

You dont understand fellas, that coaches that mesh with a community, institution, and sport like he did only once in 25-30 years. He was our Tom izzo, Bill Self, etc... Not ICON coaches like boeheim, calhoun, Knight, K, etc, but he was on his way to being our coach.

Hammy made the wrong decision, we had a choice.

If you decide to respond with some pithy comment or juvenile response, it will fall on deaf ears. I dont check this site much because its full of cry babys and blowhards. (you guys know that is true)

You forgot to mention that Cuonzo came in under an umbrella of NCAA probe, lost 2 best players. You also forgot to mention that Pearl's son was playing in front of Maymon. Also forgot to mention last seasn wasn't exactly dominant. It's silly to pretend only one man can coach at UT with success. You must know more than the experts around CBB who rave about CCM. Perhaps the funniest part of your last post was you calling everyone on this sight crybabys and blowhards when everyone here is ecstatic with this team and you are crying about being "average". Just laughable. You're a real fan and all but after a huge comeback win on the road to have a shot at 2nd place, you come on here to cry. Funniest thing ever.

He's definitly up there. Sadly I see Cal winning SEC coy (if undefeated) and the Haith at Missouri Natl COY if they go deep in tourney. But the talk is well deserved for CCM. He took a team predicted 11th in SEC and has given them a good shot at #2.

I agree with you but this is exactly what is wrong with the way the awards are given out. Coach Cal has done a good job but let's be honest, his starting 5 will all be in the NBA and he probably has 3 lottery picks. He should be undefeated. In no way am I saying his job is easy but it would be a lot easier to win with his talent than what UT has.

I think COY honors should go to guys who can do more with less.

I believe CCM will be the SEC coach of the year. With the talent Cal has, he was expected to win, but, with the Vols predicted to finish 11th, they have far exceeded expectations and that is what should be the deciding factor.

Wow. Most pathetic post ive seen in awhile. You have no idea what anyone else here has experienced with the game. You have no idea if myself, bleedingTN or orange balls has 30 years of experience in basketball. You have no idea. So to decree you know more about basketball than an individual ever will is immature, ignorant, and flat sad. Your time here is done without Bruce. See ya.

That's why you're an assistant coach... Probably elementary school. And btw some of the best basketball minds are spectators not coaches.

Yes, and one of the ways he "went against the grain" involved being a liar and a cheat. If you care about the University of Tennessee so much, that alone should make you glad to see him gone. Endorsing a man who damaged our program by making poor decisions is about the furthest thing from logical that I can imagine.

A loud, cocky, literally crazy coach came here, livened up the place and BEAT the bigs of the world with a less than talented team. We had the 2 seed, a couple sweet 16s, and the first elite 8 in program history, big time recruits, and was consistently the team to beat in conference. After the 30-point beatdown by Michigan last year, why are you so sure Bruce would've kept us in the top 25 this season? He went out with a whimper, and it was pretty clear that he had lost the team and caused such a huge distraction for the entire program that he needed to be shown the door.

to the idiot that said we have been average. im sorry, but 17-14 is one hell of alot more average than 145-61.

Why are you comparing Bruce's record for his entire tenure at UT with Cuonzo's (still in progress) record for his first season at the university? That's one of the dumbest possible ways I can think of to try and demonstrate that one coach is better than another. We can compare their records in about five years or so, but until then, you're just grasping at straws. Coach Martin took a team predicted to be in the basement of the conference and has them in position to finish much, much higher than that. That's pretty exciting (unless you've got a Bruce Pearl poster hanging on the ceiling over your bed).

If you decide to respond with some pithy comment or juvenile response, it will fall on deaf ears. I dont check this site much because its full of cry babys and blowhards. (you guys know that is true)

Well, when you express an opinion that is amusingly ignorant, you're going to get shot down by pretty much everyone.

Also, claiming you have superior basketball knowledge because you're an assistant coach in Indiana? Comedy gold.

I posted this in another thread comparing CDD and CCM. Unlike Dooley, CCM has a resume that speaks volumes about his coaching ability..

Granted, we're not going to win 30 games this year. But look at what he did @ MO state in his tenure there. Check out the Yr 1 record and then the turnaround that followed.

CCM's record @ Missouri St
Yr 1 - 11-20
Yr 2 - 24-12
Yr 3 - 26-9

The proof is in the pudding, and CCM is a proven winner. That is a fact.

Why can our fans and followers not congratulate a coach without trashing another? CCM appears to have us on the right track. Damn good job by him and our team.

To compare him to Dooley in any way is rediculous. Totally different sports, thats all that I need to say about that.

Bruce Pearl was a very good coach and I loved the ride while he was here. To compare last season to this one, and in turn decide which is the better coach is rediculous too.

For once can the haters and negative people leave it alone and give props to Coach Martin.
