Cedric Tillman throwing off offense?

let me preface this by saying I think Tillman is a beast and I appreciate everything he’s done for our program. he WILL be playing on Sundays.

but…

this may very well be a “it’s just you” thing, but does Tillman throw the offense off when he’s on the field? it’s like we try to force feed him to get him back in rhythm and in doing so we lose the essence of what has made us a top tier offense for the better part of this season.

Yea - no. He caught two touchdown passes - he helps our offense every time he plays - timing etc. may be off for other reasons, but it's not Tillman, it has never been Tillman. SC beats us worse without Tillman.

Hyatt definetly has had better games. Staying off twitter would be a good place to start. Hooker the same. Hope Hooker is ok, but it didnt look good

Simple answer is Tillman gets way to many targets... TE and BRU need to be fed.
You are 100% correct! As long as Tillman's been out, Keyton is just now getting close to even with the number of targets. In fact, before last night's game, Tillman had 40 targets, Keyton 36? Hooker will hold the ball longer while waiting for Tillman to get open. With Keyton, he'll look that way for a couple of seconds before taking off.

Hyatt looked more like the Hyatt of last year.
Yea, but he is still carry around a sprained ankle and is not 100%. hopefully he is close to full go Saturday. Let's face it, we are now a banged up football team and are just beginning to recruit better players out of high school. We have come a long way is just 2 years with the talent we had coming back. We will get better and we will win big ball games in the future.

Was the offense great? No, but it was more than good enough to win. The defense couldn’t get a damn stop to save their lives. That hurt the offense too, by making their job have more pressure. I don’t know what was up with our D last night. It’s inexplainable

I agree, I just remember him dropping lot of passes last year. I’m a big fan of Jalen Hyatt.

Offense isn't the problem but I would like to see more 10 yard passes to the tight ends or Bru. Make the DB's move up then streak.

Agreed. Thought went across my head last night watching.

None of the receivers are really getting separation.
They are beat up. This isn't a guess. Its been a long season. Lack of rotation figures into this as well. The offense is NOT the problem. HYATT needs to come back but will he ? I find it doubtful if he gets a good grade but maybe

Tillman gotta live up to the hype and make a play. Tried to draw PI when he should have been trying to go get the ball… twice.

In response, I do think they try to force feed him too much.

There’s no reason to discuss problems on offense unless you think the offense cost us the game by not scoring 70.
While I dont think thats fair to ask, there were problems everywhere last night. CT is a hell of a player. But we are more effective spreading the ball... like the pass to Fant down the middle. Spread the ball around. Give BRU more touches, not just this game but every game. Doing this opens up more options. The defense didnt bring any game thats obvious. If we could ask every player in the secondary to hit the portal and bring in a whole new group I would be ok. We need LBS and DBS yesterday

I think we are better without him, I had fears that as smooth as the offense was running before he came back that his return would throw off the chemistry and it has, it may be coincidence idk but we are not the same offense with him out there, this is not a dig on him in any way, I just think Hyatt running his position is a faster alternative and gets open for some balls Tillman has been covered on, I think its why Hyatt's production has declined ever since he came back. Defense cost us that game but it is obvious we are not as fluid with Tillman on the field.

It really doesn’t matter now. Hooker likely gone for the year and we will suffer through the final two games. Will beat Vandy because they are horrible.

I think there might be a sliver of truth here but not because we’re trying to force things. It’s because he’s not his old self. There were balls his way the old Tillman would have made plays on. He slower and tentative.

Prior to last nights game, Bru (70) was second in targets only to Hyatt (85).

When you score 38 on the road at an SEC foe's field - at night when the opposing team and fans are most jacked - you should win.

Defense lost this game 101%.

This! 38 points and over 500 yards of offense and we got blown out! This isn’t anyone figuring out Heupels O, this wasn’t a Tillman thing, this wasn’t Hooker having a bad game or getting hurt, this is completely on the D and with the way they have been playing it was bound to happen. If I’m being honest I’d rather have last night than getting to the playoff and getting completely throttled which was realistic sadly. The D has been bad all year and the O just bailed them out by keeping other teams in panick mode.

Can you be more specific in your question? I'm not sure what you're asking here.
Sorry Tillman has played four maybe 5 games this year. Check the targets in those games to see if the ball has been distributed accordingly. What is a fact is this offense has put up more points without Tillman. I don't know why but to my eyes when Tillman is on the field we only use one side.

Definitely looked like they were forcing the issue with him. The offense was better without him.

When you quoted me, I was responding to someone saying that Bru needed more targets and I showed that he was getting plenty. It's clear that when Tillman is playing, Hendon or Golesh favors him. Here we are at the end of the season, and Keyton is still behind him in targets. So, I think we are in agreement.
