On the bright side, you’re lucky your wife likes football that much
Yes but she is high school (her son is a coach) and Titans fan only. Does not like college football at all. Hoping to change that with UT seemingly back to prominence.
My wife had Titan's season tickets before we married and there is no way she it giving them up unless the cost is ridiculous after the new stadium is built.
I agree it's not bad to have a wife that likes football but the time and financial commitment to go to all the games is not worth it to me.

They are really bad at drafting QBs with high picks.

2006 - Vince Young
2011 - Jake Locker
2015 - Marcus Mariota
2023 - Will Levis

You have to put Willis in this group because I think 3rd round is considered drafted high.

We will see how Levis and Willis pans out.

Of those, Young seemed to have trouble adjusting after football.

Locker retired because he had options after football and wanted to still enjoy a good life free from injuries after football.

Mariota is still productive in the league.

None of them played at a high level.

I watched the first drive last night and I think he had 2 catches for close to 50 yards. Made a great catch of 30+ yards adjusting to the ball.

It wouldn't have been a terrible move for hte Titans to have held onto Dobson and gone after a top WR. Dobson showed what he is capable of in the playoffs.

Young was a mental midget with a weak arm.
Locker was atrocious and the Titans drafted him way too early.
Mariota was a middling qb unworthy of a high draft pick
Will Levis doesn't seem to be a game changer either.

The Titans need to evaluate their criteria for choosing qbs.

They’re not good at high picks in general. They make a lot of great picks in 3rd-7th round thou that often saves them.

Recall years back they had a high first round pick and selected an Arizona RB that blazed in his combine forty run, but couldn't find a way to start at Arizona as a RB? I think he lasted until year two and was gone out of the league.

Pick #34 (yes, I know it’s noted as #33, realistically it’s the #34 spot; the Dolphins has to forfeit the #21 pick spot) isn’t a high pick.

Also - not trying to defend those bad quarterback selections - they drafted Steve McNair at the #3 overall selection. It’s been a bad recent run though.

Chris Henry in the 2007 draft. The college position part is not entirely correct:

“Henry played college football at the University of Arizona. In 2003, Henry played only two games after being sidelined by a leg injury. In 2004, he played in 11 games as a redshirt freshman finishing the season with 159 rushingyards on 56 carries, and two touchdowns. In 2005, he finished with 34 carries for 119 yards playing on kicking units and in backup backfield duty in all 11 games. In 2006, he took over as the starter after serving as a backup for Mike Bell and Gilbert Harris. He finished the season with 581 rushing yards on 165 carries and 7 touchdowns. On December 18, 2006, Henry announced that he had decided to forgo his senior year and enter the NFL Draft early.”

Pretty much it was the proto-version of trying to create the power/speed two RB system Norm Chow used at USC (they already had Lendale White on the roster).

It became moot the next season as (1) the very next draft (2008) the Titans selected Chris Johnson and (2) the franchise fired Norm Chow as their offensive coordinator following the 2007 season.

I'm somewhat hopeful that the RB from Tulane may pan out. That was maybe round 3 iirc.

Titans history shows they rarely identify a great WR in the draft & on the rare occasion they do, they totally screw it up.
Even more of a rarity for them to ID a good QB, it’s been since before they moved to TN; last qb they drafted that actually turned out to be a good qb was McNair.
