If a team is to lose 3 games and still be in the top 10 at the end of the season, the losses really need to be spread out a bit. Lose 3 early and a team will drop so fast, they won't be able to able to recover. However, follow a loss with a big win and a jump in the poll is possible. The Vols were poised to do just that a few seasons ago being ranked 15th in midseason. However, the lackluster wins allowed other teams to jump over the Vols down the stretch.

Is it just me, or are Texas' running backs super overrated?

It is just you.

No he won't play 3 more. I think he is a good back but his numbers are skewed a little for a couple of reasons. THe big one is Vince Young. He held the Defenses hostage all year long. He froze LB's and DB's in their tracks in every game he played last year. That would help any RB look better. Also who they played against last year was not exactly stellar D's (with the exception of OU and Ohio State).

9/3 UL Lafayette W 60-3 = NO D

9/10 at Ohio State W 25-22

9/17 Rice W 51-10 = NO D

10/1 at Missouri W 51-20 = NO D

10/8 Oklahoma W 45-12

10/15 Colorado W 42-17

10/22 Texas Tech W 52-17 = NO D

10/29 at Oklahoma St W 47-28 = NO D

11/5 at Baylor W 62-0 = NO D

11/12 Kansas W 66-14 = NO D

11/25 at Texas A&M W 40-29 Not your Typical Wrecking Crew.

I'm not knocking the Kid but Darby and Irons faced much tougher D's all year long. He is a Frosh and has talent but I'm not ready to call him great yet.

BTW,

I think the Arky could very well wind up with the best back field in the nation when it is all said and done. All they need is desent qb play and they will be a very dangerous team.

Anyone think 9-3 will be good enough for tenth at the end of this coming season?
depends...beat UGA, UF, Cal, and LSU....hard to argue with it, but again, that would mean we lost to probalby USC, Ark and Bama....maybe not top ten, but i could live with that after last season....

I don't think so, but I guess we'll see next year. I think Oklahoma will be able to shut him down. I don't think Texas will be able to say the same for Adrian Peterson.

I agree with beef, losing to bammer is not gonna happen and should never be considered acceptable.

yeah, yeah....i was answering on how we could possibly get in to top ten at the end of the season still going 9-3....so assuming we had to lose 3 games, what games would we have to win to warrant top ten status at the end.....and based on our schedule, you'd have to beat the teams i listed.....

the flipside though is, according to the orignal question, was 9-3....so which 3 do you lose? and those are the three.

everyone relax...

I disagree. I feel if we only lose 3 games, then one of those 3 is a dropped game to a poor team, a la Marshall or Memphis, the other two losses to a good UGA and Florida.

If we lose to Bama, then I have a feeling that we lose at least 5 games.

However, I believe we will lose 1 game in the regular season and the SECCG. That puts us into the Capitol One Bowl (or the Sugar depending...) and an 12-2 season. I'll take it.

Ugg. I almost forgot that loss. We better pound the crap outta them in Nashville this year. For once, I am actually looking foward to going to the Vandy game.
