CFP First Round: #11 SMU @ #6 Penn State (Noon TNT/max)

Take your pick. Alabama, Miami, Ole Miss or USC are all better than SMU or Indiana.
I would make a strong argument for Miami or uscjr or ole miss. Miami might have as strong an argument as we do to be honest and you take off our orange tinted glasses. I'm not saying they should be in over us . Just saying it is comparable. They should have been the 10 and usc jr the 11 . Just my opinion.

I agree - but consider this: they moved the ball at will against Oregon.

I know Lanning is supposed to be all that as a defensive guy . . . But Oregon’s defense looked WEAK.
I thought the same. I think the Big10 defenses are slow in general and other than a few teams are not physical

Tough sec schedule? Bama lost to Oklahoma and vandy. It’s ridiculous to argue strength of schedule when you lose to both of them.

I don't care how many games Alabama loses. They're better than scrub programs like SMU and Indiana. Talent matters at this level. Teams like SMU and Indiana just don't recruit at a high enough level to compete.

They put in teams that played nobody all season over teams that played grueling schedules because they focused on record rather than talent. That's why these playoffs are garbage thus far. College football isn't like college basketball. The talent disparity between the elite recruiting teams and lesser programs is too vast. That's why you can't just look at records. You have to look at the level of competition.

Why? Because they’re sec? Gimme a break. They lost 3 games and made their bed.

No. Because they recruit at a higher level and have the athletes to compete against a team like Penn State and Notre Dame. This is what happens when you pick the little guy who beats nobody over the big dogs who beat each other up.

Alabama wouldn't be getting skull drug like this. If anything they're more likely to be up 28-0 right now at Penn State considering they recruit better than Penn State.

Grueling schedule? BAMA LOST TO VANDY AND OKLAHOMA. Wins and losses matter as much, maybe even more, as strength of schedule. The world doesn’t revolve around the SEC.

Problem is they all had really bad losses also. If you can't squeeze your fat butt into a 12 team play-off then you can't whine about anythinng

Boat raced by Oklahoma and beaten by vandy isn't Exactly screaming "we belong"

Oklahoma would bodybag SMU. Vandy would go 11-1 with Indiana's schedule.

The talent disparity is what matters in games like this not fluke results.

Oh well. Guess they shouldn’t have lost 3 games. Maybe they’ll do like their AD said and schedule weaker OOC teams that will have no bearing on losing to Vandy and Oklahoma.
