Don’t get how The Irish are a one point favorite over Georgia.
Everyone knows the Bulldogs are gonna win by double digits.

Notre Dame matches up pretty well with UGA, and UGA has a green QB.
Should be interesting. ND is solid on both lines, but they’re down their best DT and the depth behind him is not at his level. Safeties are excellent. LBs at least solid and have had great games. Freeman is a great coach, though UGA has a lot of experience with Al Golden—the DC.

UGA will almost certainly try to run to open up the pass and use the QB run to hold the LBs and safeties and prevent backside defenders running things down. A little success will open up play action. Can Stockton throw enough to win? He made some bad rookie mistakes against Texas, but he also moved the offense better than Beck. He is not on the same level as a thrower, but he’s got plenty of arm and time in the system.

Offensively, ND wants to run even more than UGA does, and UGA has struggled against the run at times. Indiana got some pressure with its front, and UGA’s is considerably better. Love at RB is the real deal, but he’s at least a little dinged up. Leonard hasn’t sold me yet, but he’s way more experienced than Stockton.

It feels like playing with house money now that we’re riding with a backup QB. It will be an adventure. Lots of respect for ND.

ND's corners are really good and UGA's WR's are not, and that's where I see the big problem. ND can come in with a game plan to focus on stopping the run, and they have a good chance of making life hell for the UGA O.

So far, Seeds 5-8 are undefeated. Seeds 1-4 have not performed any better than the road warriors of 9-12.

Can Georgia break the trend? If not, then maybe the recipe for success in a 12 team playoff is a home game followed by a single off week, which gives teams a chance to heal but doesn’t allow them time to get complacent.

I expect UGA will throw from heavy sets as 5 of UGA’s top receivers are RBs or TEs. Bobo aims to make corners tackle and to put them in hi/low conflict. LBs have to be ready to play the whole field.

Again, as much as UGA wants to run, ND wants to run more.

Seeds 1 and 2 are the only two that really should have been 1 and 2. ASU and Boise State would have been in the 9-12 range had it been based on rankings alone.

Texas and Penn State are the true 3 and 4 based on rankings and they both won. Oregon just met up with a determined OSU set on revenge.

Next year they need to seed based on rankings and at some point, expand to 16 with the top 8 getting the first game at home advantage.

I understand it is easier to handle the ticket sales and stuff if they use the bowls but really would not mind if the first 2 rounds were played at the schools. Then let the semis and finals be at a pre-designated place.

If Georgia pulls this off, then we have two SEC teams against two B1G teams. If that happens, part of me would want the two SEC teams to win - not because I necessarily always root for the SEC, but to shut the ESPN commentators up!

I’m good with everyone in the SEC losing. If Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State also all lose that would be great as well but I don’t care as much about our competition losing every game they play.

No. Seeds 1-4 are where they should have been. This was all publicized prior to the season and the playoff matchups were made based on what has been the plan all of last year.

I didn’t realize anyone was confused over the differences between rankings and seeding still. Thank you for clearing that up.

I’m weirdly with you on this. I don’t root for conferences unless I’m convinced it helps my team. I wanted Texas to win yesterday because I think Texas will be a more physical opponent for Ohio State if UGA should make it far enough into the playoff to play Ohio State. But I don’t care at all that Texas is in the SEC.

I don’t think recruits care too much about conference power rankings, and, even if they do, one year ain’t changing much.

I said rankings - the difference between the seeding and the rankings is why 5-8 is doing better than 1-4.

I'm just more tired of the narrative that ESPN and others love to spin due to their jealousy of what the SEC has done in the playoffs over the past 20+ years. I get the dislike for Bama, I do, but it's a slam against all SEC teams including Tennessee.

So I am assuming this game is going to be played - read something elsewhere were the AG was trying to get it postponed again.
