Chad Bumphis - Football Recruiting

Anyone heard anything about this guy. I really hate to stir things up but from what I've heard he is really high on the Vols. I have some family down in Mississippi and they said he will come to UT. Not a very good source but that's why I have you guys :)

I read on rivals his top two are Bama and UF. Doesn't even list UT. He likes Miss State also.

This is not a rumor or anything, its just a guess:

Bama went back to Norwood which makes me think they learned something about Bumphis - namely that he is not going to Tuscaloosa.

Has Kiffin paid him a visit?

Its Alabama or Mississippi State for me, they are my final two. Tennessee came in today and offered me and I don't want to shut the door on anyone but it's probably too late. But I do like Lane Kiffin," Bumphis said. "For me it is going to be a very hard decision which could come down to my official visits but the most important thing is relationships and I like both of the coaching staffs a lot.

"Probably" being the operative word. :)

Thanks for that. When was it said?
I am probably reading too much into it, but I had heard from several sources that Bama had backed off Norwood. With Norwood committing there I thought it signaled that something else had happened.

From what I hear it's between Bama and MSU.

This is what I've heard also.... However, Ive been reading the Bama board and apparently they are running low on scollies! They seem to think they get Randle and Kirkpatrick and that Bumphis really liked Mullen at MsSt...

It looks like O and Monte are going to see him. Their plane is heading to Tupelo after Memphis.

love to have this kid, he's got some wheels.

yep...he is awfully short though...even if he were to be a slot receiver...but sometimes that doesn't matter as long as you've got heart and football smarts combined with talent.:)

So what he's short. He's explosive and would be great returning kicks and in the slot.

How are his grades? Miss kids aren't known for that really...

If we could pull him and Pat out of Mississippi, I would be ecstatic though.

"I've been to Alabama so many times there wasn't anything for me to see. This was mainly for my mom and she loved it. She had a lot of questions going in and I knew if she didn't like them I wouldn't be going there but she had a great time," Bumphis said. "We talked on the way home and during the trip and she said it was ok for me to go to Alabama. She thought it was a good program and she liked the coaches.

"The biggest thing that stood out to her was the academic support. College is about getting a degree and we met with the academic people and toured the buildings. Everything was great and I could tell when looking at her that they had made a big impression."
"Star Jackson was my host and we are just alike. He's from out of state and he told me how no matter where you go it takes a while to get used to being away from home. He said you would get homesick but you get used to it. He's a great guy," Bumphis said. "Another guy I really like is Javy (Arenas). I told him he outta play on offense and he was just so cool overall. I have a great relationship with the current players. I've known them for a long time and they always treat me like I'm already part of the team.

"Star just took me around and we hung out with the other recruits and did the normal stuff. We didn't do anything crazy but I had a good time. I always do."

"The Alabama visit helped them because my mom loved it. I've always liked everything about Alabama and knew it would be a great place to go to school. Convincing her was important or they wouldn't have a chance," Bumphis said. "Right now it's Alabama and Mississippi State on top. Those two are pretty even and to be honest I have no idea which one I would choose. I'm going to State this weekend and we will see what happens.

"I might visit Tennessee (1-23) the next weekend. I'm not sure yet but they have been recruiting me hard. Auburn also wants me to come but I don't know about them."
