Chad Bumphis

Oklahoma just made contact, but it seems to be too late. He said they mailed him, but never called. It's awfully late in the game---they must have lost someone they were targeting. They suggested a visit on the 23rd.

He also isn't showing on the Scouts board for the weekend of the 30th, although he could go back up.

"I might take a couple of more visits, but I am not sure," said the talented wide out. "If I go anywhere it will be Oklahoma and Tennessee, but I am not sure I am going to take anymore. I am still thinking about it.

"I was thinking about deciding after this week, but I will have to see if I want to take any more visits. I might take that visit to Oklahoma, but I just haven't decided."

Chad Bumphis, a huge WR commit for the Bulldogs, has been declared ineligible by the NCAA for illegal contact with former Coach Sylvester Croom while Croom was visiting a high school coach in Tupelo. Bumphis saw Croom and grabbed his shoulder from behind to greet him.

MSU self-reported the violation in September and Bumphis has now been ruled ineligible after committing to State.

How stupid is this by the NCAA?

If those details are accurate, that's incredible. What was Croom supposed to do, not turn around?

That has to be the stupidest rule I have ever heard of. Once again another reason why the NCAA is a useless organization for the most part.

I was interpreting bburger's post to read that the NCAA had declared him ineligible.

I read the link. I understand it now, sort of.

I don't really know how all of that works but if the violation occurred in September and the letter was sent in October, why don't they have an answer?

STARKVILLE – The NCAA has restored the athletic eligibility of Mississippi State football signee Chad Bumphis.

Bracky Brett, MSU's associate athletic director for compliance, received a call Thursday from the NCAA, which had declared Bumphis ineligible for his role in a secondary recruiting violation that occurred in October. MSU reported the violation, which occurred when Bumphis initiated a conversation with former coach Sylvester Croom that was deemed "in excess of a greeting."

Both the ineligibility ruling and the ensuing successful appeal by MSU were "routine" procedure, according to Brett.

I told you guys this wouldn't take any time at all to be resolved.
