Apparently my team had the best draft of all. It would've been even better had Marcus Williams fell 2 more spots.

Opionions of this draft are all over the place. My Blazers draft is anywhere between F and A+ depending on who you talk to.

I, personally, didn't like the Blazers draft. The English guy was not 1st round material by any means(and didn't they trade for it?). They didn't need to trade to get Aldridge since Chi wanted TT and Char wanted Morrison so that was bad. The Roy trade was good but didn't they trade Roy? Again, not a good move. They made another questionable move but I can't remember it. At least they are trying to clean up their situation though and that is the most important thing to do right now.

I initially hated it because...

1. Portland passed on Morrison with Chicago's 2nd overall.

2. You're right, they made a lot of seemingly needless moves to get picks.

3. The whole draft team seemed like they had their heads cut off.

But then I thought about it and started to like the situation.

1. Good to see the front office actually working on something. They're applying themselves (even if making questionable decisions -- it's a step forward).

2. Think we wasted players? Nope. We got rid of them. That's what Portland has needed for years now. Just fire sale, and that's effectively what the Blazers did by getting rid of all the crap. Now get rid of Zach Randolph and Darius Miles then we are good and can really start rebuilding.

3. We still got really good players. Brandon Roy could be a very, very good player if he develops a little more, Aldridge could be a considerable force at PF if he applies himself consistently. Freeland has only been playing a couple years and is already among the best in England. With a couple years in pros in Europe, he could turn out great. Rodriguez from Spain also has a ton of upside. So the players were a good mix of NBA-ready and potential.

4. It took guts to not draft Morrison. The movement to get him was very strong around here. Portland's front office has some cajones.

Portland didn't have the 2nd pick though. Chicago did. They could have had Chicago draft Morrison, if that is what you are saying. IMO, Portland's draft would've been alot better with Morrison. But like we said, they are making moves and trying to fix their situation.

Yeah but the front office openly said "we don't want Morrison." They managed to get Aldridge and trash a bunch of players they otherwise couldn't have gave away. My only qualm left with the team is to know what kind of team is trying to be built. But that is still a few steps off. Time to set the frot office in the right direction and simply shed the image. In this aspect, Portland's draft was pretty darn good.

Being the best basketball player in England is comparable to being the best baseball player in Russia.

Rodriguez lacks the foot speed to be more than a serviceable player.

Miami gets a grade for not even being involved?
Their pick was part of the package that brought them Shaq. Ford gives them credit for that.

I think the lakers should get an A. they got the player they wanted without having to move up, and then a servicable player in Evans...

I don't know if that's an A. That's just doing well, I think an A would be great. Farmar is a decent player that serves well for what the Lakers do. But they didn't get any players with a real potential to be great. At least, I haven't heard anybody say that Jordan Farmar has the potential for greatness.

I think Farmar can become a great pg. he has untapped potential and is only 19 years old. he has great vision and passing skills but could use alittle work on a jumper. get that jumper going and watch out, playing next to kobe he can become great.
