Does anyone know why Finebaum appears to not be so fond of his Alma Mater and why he comes across as a Bama fan? I'd be interested to hear what peoples thoughts are on this.

He spoke to my journalism class last semester, it was fantastic. He spoke about how he was focused on listening to the people who want to talk. He realized that there was nowhere that would let anyone say anything they want and have someone listen to them. That's why he thinks he's one of the best interviewers he's ever known. Based on what he said, I'd agree that he's an incredible interviewer.

Since he was working in Birmingham, the focus of his show, therefore, had to be what the people who called in wanted to talk about. Alabama and Auburn is what it was. He spoke to us about how in the early 2000s Alabama fans hated him because they thought he was an Auburn sympathizer. I tend to believe that he doesn't have a side other than whatever side is going to drive viewership. He's brilliant at gaining listeners and convincing people to voice their opinions. A good Tennessee team will drive discussions on his call-in show about Tennessee, which will give him an opportunity to speak highly of the Vols.

He wants Tennessee to be good, if for nothing more than viewership.

(Guarantee he'd take pride in his alma mater righting the ship, though)

I'd the SEC network had launched in the 90s or 00s it'd be Bama fans on the outside looking in. Bad timing for us. Hopefully we start winning some conference games against quality competition soon.

I like Finebaum. Yeah he's generally negative towards Tennessee but truth be told they haven't exactly given anyone a lot to be positive about over the years.

Besides, who listens to that show to listen to PAWWWL anyway. I tune in for the Bammers and Barners

I watched it yesterday with some family from out of town and we were laughing at the inbred Bammers and Barn people...then Jamie from Athens calls in and ruins the mood... but Finebaum was tweeting during the game that UT football was finally fun to watch again and the Dooley purge was finally finished... he's waiting on UT to start winning before he goes off on the Bammers and Barn Animals... UT just hasn't given him much ammo the last few years

Kirby..when Tennessee beats USCjr, can you imagine how much spit will be flying around on the set? The TV crew will need wet suits!:salute:
