When I think about our roster, every position group has been significantly upgraded in both talent and gameday performance since Heupel was hired except the secondary.
They are talented, but the unit has not executed at an elite level together.
I am hopeful it is coming. If that unit is above average that elevates our defense significantly.

My opinion, the guys in the secondary have played their guts out, they just didn't have the speed of the receivers they were trying to cover. I'm gonna reserve my opinion of Martinez until I see what he does with speedy secondary guys.

🙄🙄. What a tired response. Seems like anytime anyone expresses disdain for our coaches, somebody brings up, well I guess we should fire Heupel. Literally nobody is saying that. Just so you and some other haven’t figured it out, you can really like Heupel and be very critical of his decisions at the same time.

Its crazy ppl (OP) want a drive thru turn around and want UT to be the best D in the SEC instantly. I mean UGA has got that locked up right now and Kirby and his recruiters started with a 9 win team when he took over 2016 and has recruited well to great but with a stronger starting base. Even with that strong base starting point he lost to Butch Jones remember that but newsflash UGAs complete D is not gonna completely transfer to UT it takes time, the OP is expecting miracles. Heuple took over a 3 win team (2021) he will be in his 4th year. Has won 7- 11 & 9 with what he took over is outstanding, for us to be mentioned as competing for a 12 team playoff is remarkable, but some were brought up in the drive thru world , I want it all and I want it now.

Yep, that's probably a better rep of the craziness of instant gratification, it cost a little more and can be dangerous if the drivers are not properly vetted. Whereas the portal etal are a look for instant success but if you don't properly Vett the players in regard to chemistry and team culture it could lead to a Fire the coach year.

If you look at our position battles and recruiting then the easy (and only) answer is yes, we will be solid on defense. Solid enuf that a title is within reach.
