Championship Week

I don't think you will see much of an effort to slow down either of the contenders by their other teammates or related teams. They may let their own guy by a little easier or let them lead a lap, but NASCAR will be watching for blocking. It really has not happened in past years. Using pit strategy to try to put cars between them could happen.

I agree, they'll let those two guys settle it. I didn't like what happened at Talladega though and neither did Trevor Bayne.

Both have two wins and six top fives at Homestead, but both of Edwards wins have been since Stewart's including last race. I think Stewart has a slight edge due to his having the experience of winning two titles to Edward's none. However, Edwards so far has not appeared to be affected by the pressure as I thought he might be. Tony has the momentum with his four wins in the nine Chase races plus he dominated Phoenix.

My prediction is that whoever wins will win in a large part due to the other team's mistake, either a pitstop miscue or a chief/driver error. A late caution could provide an opportunity for very interesting and all so important pit strategy calls.

If I'm not mistaken, Stewart's wins came on the old, flatter Homestead track. May be wrong though and I'm too lazy to look it up.

I'm not sure either, the track was reconfigured fairly early on. In any case, Stewart's wins were several years ago.

well I checked and Stewart won the first two races in 1999 and 2000, so you are correct.

Actually he was leading on a G W C restart and spun his tires and finished 4th a few years ago. I think all things are equal and will be settled till the 2ndgame half of the race.

Yeah, I was thinking he won the first two races, but wasn't sure. Edwards has been the best of the two there in recent years. Going to be interesting on Sunday to say the least.

While Edwards winning last year is a confidence boost for him, it really comes down to who is best this year, and I think Stewart's momentum equals that out. Carl's biggest edge is his three point lead, and that's not a lot.

Go Carl Edwards!! Not really for him, more so for Roush Racing.

Will be happy for Ricky to win it all today though. Although I would be happier if it were Trevor.

Matt Kenseth is going to win the race though! :victory:

I hate Stenhouse with a passion, I was hoping all seeason long he would screw up and give my boy Sadler the championship.

Richard Childress grandson, Austin Dillon, won last night's truck championship.

I've talked to Stenhouse on two occasions. He's actually a pretty down to earth guy, but very quiet. That's surprising because he's pretty vocal during races.

FML. Looks like Carl steals a championship with Tony having problems. I was just hoping Carl's unnatural luck would run out today.

If you guys aren't watching this race your missing out. Tony Stewart is flat out driving the wheels off of his car.

...stewart is nuts. :)

I do find it curious that as random as nascar can be, Tony and Carl are basically deadlocked.

What a battle. Certainly had me interested, and this is coming from someone who rarely cares to watch the Homestead race.
