Change is coming to the College Football Playoff

The bye is stupid. No playoff teams deserve a handicap. The whole reason a larger playoff is necessary is due to too many teams having weaker schedules.

Why reward Georgia or Michigan with more time to rest after a cupcake year in which they only play 3 worthy opponents during the regular season? NFL rosters or not - their schedules are pathetically weak. They start off ranked in the top 5, play scrimmage games for 8 weeks, they get 1-3 tough games against teams that are probably more banged up, then get some time off before playing a banged up team in the conference championship, then get a month to heal before playing one of two banged up semifinal teams.. Who is pushing for this uneven playing field?

You're giving Michigan too much credit, they only play 2 ranked teams this year and haven't played either of them yet. Must be mighty boring being a Michigan fan, although I guess the cheating scandal livens things up.

It'll be up to 16 teams before it's all said and done.
5 weeks (counting Conference Championship games) is a lot of extra football for a few teams. I suspect the Army-Navy weekend will provide a bye week for everyone, the the grinder begins for playoff teams.
I am curious if (the elite or even near-elite) college rosters can handle that much more football. That is an NFL-type workload.
We already know the best-conditioned players can do it, but what about the rest?
High School playoffs are going on now, and I am seeing a couple of teams running down physically.

It will also be interesting to see scheduling with other Bowl Games during the Playoff weeks. Lots of big games is great for us fans to watch, but Playoffs will warrant primetime slots (that can be Saturday afternoon for CFB). I wonder if some Bowls won't be disappearing sooner rather than later. I doubt some bowls make a profit now.
