Change you can believe in...when I tell you.

For the most part, yes. That's the message I was trying to convey. If every historical document was still applicable today, we wouldn't of had to amend the Constitution so many times. This guy is out of touch with today's society I suppose.

The relevant documents still apply today (thank goodness) the ammendments were a mechanism set in place to modify government as needed not invalidate it.

That's because Bush has multiple DVDs full of public gaffes that made his political mistakes all the worse. The guy just couldn't speak in front of a lot of people, and that's why the media was so hard on him. Just get over it man trying to hate this president for calling the country a democracy won't change anything.
Posted via VolNation Mobile

Wait. The media was hard on Bush because he made some gaffes? Is that really what the media should be doing in reporting?

Technically we're a "Constiutionally limited democratic republic". So this guy is just conveniently forgetting the first part. Essientially he's doing the same thing he hated on Obama for doing.

I think the "big messy democracy" line is troublesome because it implies he could really implement his agenda if it weren't for pesky voters and the people they elected. If he were King things would really be happening...

Grasping for something that isn't there, imo.

We knew this was going to take time because we've got this big, messy, tough democracy

Is he not saying that if he didn't face opposition on his ideas then we'd have made a lot more progress?

What is your interpretation of that statement in the context it was delivered?

I believe he's referring to the tea party in this situation, not the american people. Just my interpretation though.

This country is a democracy. No matter how you try to twist it around its still a democracy. Not even Republicans would disagree with that lol.

And enough of the pity party for Bush its history. I'm not defending Obama either because I haven't be happy with him either but facts are facts and Bush had more goof ups than Obama. Speaking "Mexican", enjoying over 100 years of peace with Japan, etc etc.

I'm sure the guy just got nervous and made the mistakes, just like you or me would if we were the ruler of the best nation on the planet.

Once again you are dead wrong, the USA is a
democratic republic, NOT a democracy.

Not even Bush could speak Austrian.

you know the sad part. i recently asked in a thread what good does it do to vote.

now, opening this thread, i thought about the last 3 elections.

2008-obama-mccain
2004-bush-kerry
2000-bush-gore

is this really the best we can do? is this the best that our country has to offer?

and as it stands now.....

2012-obama-romney?

and voting is supposed to matter

What we need to do is get more informed and involved
in voting for our reps and senators and if you read any
thing at all in the media, generally believe just the
opposite.

I've made up my mind, I'm supporting Palin come
hell or high water and not voting for anyone else.

Since Kennedy I wrote in mostly Pat Paulsen and
Foster Brooks except when Reagan (who I thought
was just paying lip service) and Carter were candidates
and I wrote in Mickey and Mighty Mouse.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised by Reagan in
a lot of ways. To me the only decent president since
Kennedy.

I did vote for W in 2000 and 2004 because I loath
Gore and despise the ground Kerry walks on.

I also cast a vote for McLame, not because I think
he is worth the time of day but I was voting early,
the grandkids were in the car and I was told to vote
quick and I just didn't have time to write in someone
on one of those new electronic thingies where you
can only pick one letter at a time.

Eventually I had thousands writing in cadidates in
favor of the "party" party.

So many were writing in Mickey Mouse that the state of
Tennessee (and perhpas other states as well) changed
the poll reporting rules to not report Mickey votes to the
media.

How embarrassing would it be if Mickey pulled more votes
than either party's candidate??

Don't lose heart, we are stronger than you think and
we will overcome eventually some way.

Where there is a will there is a way.

If the choices are only Obama and Romney I am going
to write in Ray Stevens

and Larry the Cable Guy.

P. J. O'Rourke, who I think is by far the greates political
humorist of our day said it best; "Political power is
only political power if you take it seriously."

I think that was in his book; "Parliament of Whores."

Don't have time to read through the babbling mess. And I believe I just said the country was a democratic republic so wrong again. I just have one other piece of advice.. lay off the hard drugs please.

Your spelling is on par with your knowledge of our country.

Get back to the initial point. Instead of arguing or refuting what the thread is about, you instead revert to the age old liberal argument....hating minorities.

So altidore, what exactly are you saying now?

I'm saying your daddy probably didn't love you enough, hence your hate for the world and sounding like a crazy old fool. You're crazy banter doesn't even warrant a response.

"And to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all."

Don't make inane arguments when you are poorly educated.
Please reference this article if you truly want to understand the difference between the two.

Obama WANTS a democracy and unfortunately was able to exercise the power that a democracy gives by forcing the Healthcare legislation. Just one more example of the worst president in the history of the republic.

Don't people need to vote in a democracy? If so, we'd be the most half-assed democracy in humanity's short history.
