A&M isn't in the BIG-12 anymore..they joined a real conference:)

I tend to follow Texas football quite a bit with a Longhorn husband and usually get to a couple of Texas games a year. I think Strong will get more time because a lot of Texas problems were there before Strong got there. Texas has a real entitlement issue of we're Texas and we don't have to work as hard especially with so many 5 stars showing up over the years. Mack perpetuated that attitude. Mack also let several really good quarterbacks unrecruited. Problem is other Big 12 teams have caught up and Texas isn't getting those recruits anymore. I also think recruits are looking at Baylor and TCU more when they didn't use to. Texas is missing leaders on the field, Heard being a bright spot but he's a freshman. Upperclassmen aren't doing the job. Strong ran off many and Mack left the perverbial cupboard bare

There are a lot of problems, I think it's going to take some time, similar to Tennessee. He's got a tough job, but I think he'll get at least another year. On another note, I hated that Shaka left VCU. I hope he comes thru cuz the heat will be on.

Honestly the reasons you listed is why Texas won't keep Strong. They do have a sense of entitlement and can't let go of the past (not unlike us) and furthermore, still think the Texas name will bring in the high powered recruits.

Texas wants to win and win right now. And they tend to add "or else" after that thought. And any coach that can't compete immediately won't last.

They let Brown, and Barnes skate by a couple years too long imo

Strong getting the W against the Sooners might give him one more season in Austin. In my opinion, Strong is pretty coach and his recruiting is not to bad either. I just don't think the TX job fits him.

That win is huge for him, but they still have to finish strong IMO. Imagine if we had beat Florida but tanked down the line and not made a bowl.
