I believe he went 4-8 last year @ USF. Amazing how Saban keeps filling vacancies with talent. Just think he would be better suited as an assistant somewhere?

Has anyone ever completed a hat trick of failure like that before? Muschamp is completely batshit, but that’s pushing it.

He is a name and has a reputation for defense. I believe Mason is out the door this year unless he miraculously manages to get to bowl. They beat the sh!t out of UT two years in a row then all the sudden get blown out the next year by the VOLS. Talent level has dropped off dramatically for Mason.

Strong built his resume' as a defensive coordinator at Florida that was loaded with talent, a la Cuonzo Martin. He has been less than successful afterwards, although I assume he's acquired a lot of knowledge in his travels.

Strong is no band-playing geek....

His defenses were legit everywhere he was a DC.
He definitely has some skill there.

Band-Player..............nothing more than a numbers geek.

I disagree, he took over a subpar Louisville job that went 4-8 and hadn’t been to a bowl game for 3 straight years.
Charlie took them to a bowl game all 4 years and had them at 12-1 when he left for Texas.

Charlie Strong as a head coach with any quarterback besides Teddy Bridgewater has been average at best.

His reputation has taken a hit since he took over at Texas but 8 years ago he was regarded as one of the best up and coming coaches in college football. He turned us down before we hired Butch.

He was a good coach at Louisville when they were Big East. I think he is a great defensive coach, but a journeyman head coach.

Forget it, VN will always have those folks who MUST hit and kick people from behind then stomp them while they're down. It's almost a rite of passage for some.

I agree that he‘s a great defensive mind, but does he really want to take the Vandy job if offered? Or any head coaching job? That’s 3 SEC East schools, and the chances of him being successful are not likely. I don’t think anyone’s ego wants to take that dubious honor of being fired 3 times, let alone from the same division.

I would like to point out most OU fans feel like we paid Mike Stoops to go to Alabama rather than firing him.

Story that Mike Stoops coming to Kentucky to fill his brother's last open assistant position is gaining momentum. Not done yet but "closer".

As long as he's coming in as like a nutrition bar blender operator or in charge of making sure the water fountains are working, you should be fine.
