Texas is a sinking ship w/ Swoopes at QB. Looked promising his first few games as a sophomore and showed enough flash to keep the fanbase quiet. But he doesn't look like he's progressed. And he's simply isn't elite. Strong inherited a depleted roster, especially at the QB position. It may be time to bench Swoopes and show the fanbase that their fate is in the hands of a freshman. It's bold to do that, but it really is Strong's best move, all things considered. I think Jerrod Heard starts next week and will be the QB for the next few years. If it's Swoopes, Strong better have his finger on the trigger ready to take him out at any time. I talk to Texas fans on a daily basis who think Swoopes in still their guy. There is a lot of denial going on in Austin right now.
Honestly I think Strong is in over his head at Texas and will get canned sooner rather than later. His situation with the coaching staff looks bad. If he wants to stick around he better bring in better recruiters because the talent isn't up to standard and right now Jay Norvell is their best guy. They are 47th in the nation in the 2015 class, which is absolutely terrible for Texas' standards. Right now Houston, Baylor, A&M, LSU, OU, TCU, TTU, & even SMU are all licking their chops and enjoying the benefits of Texas huge recruiting pool. Strong seems to be completely unaware of how vast the recruiting pool is and it's going to cost him his job, eventually.
