Charlie Strong

No, I live in louisville and he is terrible. UofL has played no one this season and they think they deserve a shot at the NC. I dont think he is proven as a head coach. Saying that I think he will end up at Arkansas.

How is he terrible? You say he is, and then you say the Louisville fans are unrealistic. Back it up.

Would this not be a legit hire? A qualified hire? Where is he most likely to end up? Arkansas, Auburn, or Tennessee?

Not a big enough fish could not turn it around fast enough. Three years fans still would be disappointed. To keep the fan base happy at this point you would someone who could be competing for conference champ in two years. A really Big Fish.

He would be 5th or 6th for me. If were talking coaches we actually have a shot at, I would say top 3.

I still think Tubberville would be a safer play and cheaper as well. I think Louisville would go as high as 3.75-4 million to keep Strong. 2.5 gets Tubbs to KVille.

He is far from terrible. He's a very good hire and would be my 3rd choice after Gruden and Del Rio. But its irrelevant we seem to have our HR hire come december!

Tubbs got ran out of Auburn..He would not be a good hire at all.

You don't want Del Rio. Google Search "Del Rio's coaching record." Not good. I considered it before I did a little research. He might be a Pete Carroll (no success in the NFL but good in college), but it's too risky. I think he would have fared better if he had a franchise QB at Jax, but his record really, really stinks.

A coach winning games by the skin of his teeth in a pitiful conference with a roster of retreads that were kicked out of other programs? There is no "signature win" and some embarassing home losses last year. Most overrated coach in the NCAA

NO thanks. We've already tried "underqualified and did OK in a mid-major conference but probably will be good"

Strong's AD went on the record saying he will make him the highest paid head coach in the country to keep him there at Louisville.

They are now 9-0. And they beat UK this year and last year. We can't say that at UT.

Yeah, but that's BS. Mere bluster, to hopefully discourage as many other programs as possible. No way in hell Louisville is going to match an SEC team that is serious.

Not only that, it isn't all about the salary. It's about competing on the biggest level. Charlie did that as a DC in the SEC. If Tenn or Auburn offers...he jumps on it. This is a destination job. Louisville and other Big East teams are just launching pads to get those kind of jobs.

I would be happy with strong. Nit my first choice, but a big improvement from what we have right now.

Its funny with all this Strong bashing. I'm mean he is 9-0 and in the top ten and more than likely headed to a bcs bowl. He came to Louisville after replacing our version of dooley in kraigthorpe and look what lil Louisville is doing now. So just IMAGINE what he could do at an ACTUAL big time school. He is not an up and comer. He is already here! So once people get off their high horse or bad doobies and start seeing that MNF is it for Gruden and NO ONE is coming from the NFL the sooner we can persuade Strong to come to Knoxville instead of Fayetteville.

I don't think Strong is a bad coach. I think he is doing pretty well in his short time as a HC. He is 23-13 as a coach. He has got beat by some pretty weak teams last year in FL INT, and Marshall. He has squeaked by several wins this year over weak teams. He is winning them so I give him credit. A Big East schedule is pretty weak no matter how you look at it. My issue with hiring him would be the money. I don't see him as a top money guy and that is what he would demand to make a move. He would require Chris Peterson or Gary Patterson type money. I just could not see doing that at this early stage in his career. JMO

My top 3:

1. Gruden
2. Patterson
3. Strong

Rick Stockstill at MTSU would be an upgrade at this point.

What kind of recruiter would Strong be at UT? Could he recruit top 10 each year? Could he get us in the top 5?

Hell all the man can do is beat the teams in front of him. I watched his whole game today and saw his kids playing their asses off for him and having fun. There are a few. If names id rather have but we would be lucky to get Strong.

Exactly! He cant help it that teams are afraid to play him. By the way wasn't Tennessee suppose to play them soon but backed out?
