I think I tagged everyone who mentioned they were in Charlotte. We just had a field adjuster come out as we had water damage from the hurricane. It is not the roof, but instead how things are draining and caused a small freak accident. He will send a report to our insurance company which I'll get a copy of, but it sounds like minor damage that will not meet our deductible and we might as well go out on our own. We will see for sure in the next couple days.

At any rate, in the meantime, do any of you have any experience with a general contractor to recommend or stay away from?

Thanks!

Let me know once you get the report, I might know of somebody that can help.

Kind of OT but anyone live in/familiar with Mooresville?

I currently live in Concord, near the Davidson border. It isn't that bad of an area and the schools are great, but I just got custody of my kids recently so I need to move into a bigger home. Was thinking Mooresville, since its still relatively close to work. Soliciting feedback on the area.

Sorry Hole, I don't have any information for you. I'm a South Charlotte/Union County resident and really don't get out that way much. I think there are a few people on the Board though that live in Huntersville and Davidson. I don't remember off the top of my head who though.

I'm also in South Charlotte. Could you upgrade in Davidson? I know that is a pricey area, but my aunt lives right on the Huntersville/Davidson line and I like her area.

Single dad raising three kids on one income, no support payments. Even with my healthy yearly income, Davidson and most of Huntersville are out of my price range. I do like both areas as well.

traffic sucks. two guys i work with live in Mooresville, and we all work in the Davis Lake area near Northlake Mall. can take them over an hour to get to and from their homes. wiht 77 being under construction, and it will be for a while, that's probably the biggest drawback. people i know that live up that way, generally like the area.

So is It selwyn or dilworth?
there's pubs in both......so the answer is YES.

the area is Dilworth. Selwyn is a road in dilworth. but it's farily popular, so you'll hear people say "selwyn" ...and im my younger days, that usually meant Selwyn Pub. used live 3 blocks from the place. good times.

yeah, between the construction on completing 485 up here, and the previousl I77 widening project south of the lake, and now the toll road project.........

let's just say they might get it all done before i'm dead.

Charlotte resident here! Been here for two years. Moved with my wife from Nashville for her job. Miss Tennessee badly but this city is alright. It's very much Nashville-lite in a lot of ways, especially the insane growth and the number of people moving here. We live in Plaza Midwood. Nice to be within walking distance of so much stuff, and they're adding new bars and restaurants every month it seems.

Yeah man, that area is growing like mad. It's one of my favorite areas along with the Elizabeth area.
I don't know if I would call Charlotte "Nashville-lite." Number one, it's a lot bigger than Nashville (about a million more people or so in the metro area). Number 2, it's a very "clique-y" and pretentious town. Nashville is a lot more down to earth. My teammates and I used to call Charlotte "Highschool-ville" or "Highschool-town" lol. It's getting better though.

Staying at the Embassy Suites Concord/Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend.

Nashville is Charlotte-lite.

Mustard base is boss. Had Jim 'N Nick's for dinner. Beef brisket. No mustard base, but still solid.

Jim n Nick's is only okay to me. We have one 5-10 minutes from us and I'd rather make the 30 minute drive to Midwood Smokehouse every time. They don't sauce most things and it's not needed, which makes it A+

Charlotte has no culture and no identity. NASCAR? Billy Graham?

Atlanta-lite is a better description for it but the vibe in a few parts reminds me of Nashville. Food scene is improving but still miles behind Nashville.
