Chavis D anyone?

I'm up watching the LSU-Washington game, and the LSU defense is looking awfully familiar. The defensive front doesn't seem to be pushing too hard through the offensive line, either.

totally agree. Im sure Chavis will stand by being ranked high in defense but never get that stop when it matters.

watching l.s.u. embarass itself against washington, easily one of the lousiest teams in the country.

they flashed a stat a couple of minutes ago. washington was 5 out of 6 on 3rd down attempts. (most of them were 5+ yards too). poor chavis. he can't stand prosperity. put him in a 3rd and long and try to tell me your butt doesn't pucker. shades of u.c.l.a. circa 2008. enjoy corndogs!

When people talk about how "great" our defense was last year, nobody ever mentions the fact that we were 10th in the SEC in 3rd down defense. I'm really not that surprised by that stat.

just watched lsu beat an 0-12 team by 8 points and play a bend and break defense in the final minutes...made me even happier to have monte.

In Chief's defense, LSU was absolutely atrocious on defense last year. I'm sure it will take a bit to get better players into the system (if he recruits). Although I'll be honest, watching our game and the LSU game made me feel much the same way.

How many top recruiting classes have they had recently? Doesn't seem like talent should be an issue at all.

478 yds of offense given up by Chavis' D tonight and plenty of 3rd and Chavis' surrendered. Nothing's changed with him at all imho.

What are you talking about (better recruits)? He has an abundant of talent to work with and no excuse for giving up that many points. He's still running his stale schemes and will get LSU destroyed on D from being in bad position all game.

I'm talking about how awful LSU was on defense last year. In fact, despite having a losing season, we ranked higher than them in pretty much every defensive category. Chavis may not be the answer, but to ignore the fact that he was brought in because they were so terrible is silly. So, that's either a coaching issue or a personnel issue. I'm just guessing it was some mix of both.

there was a post on here last spring about chavis saying that he had never had as much talent on the field at one time as he now has at LSU.

better players are not the issue.

11/19 third down conversion ratio is why Chavis sucks.

I love this one from one of the posters in that link...

John Chafe Us

Classic.

Will let everyone know what the word on the street is down here as I am currently at LSU for my doctorate. Don't worry, my heart, head, and home are at Tennessee (did my undergrad there, born there, met my wife there, parents went there, in-laws went there, etc.) Just here for the tuba teacher.

Go Vols!

Just more of the same old 3rd and chavis. He'll not be long at LSU, they won't put up with it.

Where's writer 32 when his friend and idol needs him? Chavis couldn't hold Monte's headset and it was vividly proven last night. Oh well, at least he'll be able to help fillup, the mule riding man molder soon enough. At least he better hope someone is blind enough to hire fullmore in a hurry, because after this year the whole damn world is gonna know what sorry excuses for football coaches they both have become.
