Chaz Lanier looks like another Dalton Knecht

I hope not. I think playing slow and changing how we play is how we give Baylor confidence and momentum. They can’t keep up with our pace. Keep pushing it. If you blow a 27 point lead, then we have bigger concerns than just coaching adjustments.
True. The first 4 minutes of last night's game simply bamboozled Baylor Bears.

Sorry guys, my fault on the 2nd half Chaz meltdown.

At the half, I sent my son a text regarding Chaz 7//8 shooting 3's and him being Dalton's replacement.
Thought he would break Lofton''s record but it wasn't to be.

My hope for future games is to see Milicic be more consistent and for Dubar to start making some noise!

Chaz showing out in the Bahamas! Pure 3-pt shooter...that's 3 away games (1 road & 2 neutral) where we played decent competition and he has shot 50% or better going 16/28. That's absolutely bananas!!!

Coming into the season there were questions about his ability to drive but he has shown nice flashes of getting to his spots or all the way to the rim...hopefully that part of his game continues to improve. Look forward to seeing how he continues to develop.

Give Barnes credit. He knows how to recruit.
I'm sure many on here were thinking Tennessee would not be nearly the same with DK gone.
With Lanier,Chaz and Milicic, we will be in good shape!

It's interesting that we are now getting these One and Dones on the back-end. They are physically and emotionally more mature, and more developed than some of the pampered and selfish 5* freshmen that come in to some schools on the front-end. These guys have flown under the radar, were late bloomers, or just worked their asses off to get better. They appreciate their opportunity to play and display their skillset on a bigger stage under a coach like Barnes. I also think this will continue to be a trend as long as CRB is here! Very fun to watch these guys!

If Chaz can start hitting that pull up jumper, that puts him at a different level. Close to DK, but still not sure he has top out ability, mainly just because of DK ability to get all the way to the rim and explode. But Lanier is quick enough and strong enough to drive by his man, he just has to be able to finish those jumpers.

He's close to Lofton status with his outside shooting. He's that good.
Yep. Knecht was also a good shooter inside the arc. Lanier seems to pull the string 18 feet in. And as a finisher at the rim, Knecht was on another level.

It’s why Duke’s way of loading a roster with 5 stars freshman hasn’t worked since 2017…once the transfer portal came into play that way of building your roster with 5 stars freshmen will continue to fail. Every team that has won the natty since 2017 had an experienced roster and it doesn’t look like it will change anytime soon

That Baylor beat down was impressive! I love that we can rebuild in one off-season now--something that used to only be available to the Dukes and Kentuckys of the world.

IMO at this point in the year, Chaz is better on defense than Knecht.

Knecht was BAD the first 1/3 of the year.

But he dramarically improved to be around an average defender.

In fact, his defensive improvement was probably the best I ever saw over the course of a year. Speaks to how locked in he was to improving

He was finishing those at Louisville

I thought about that and I was hoping not to jinx it but man the team is looking good.
I watched first couple games and didn't see CRB coached team.....but they have improved and starting to play like team
Looks like all transfers are starting to play good and look comfortable.....
Go VOLS!!!!!!!9

I think Lanier is better on defense than Knecht was at this time last year, but Knecht’s end of season defense was significantly better.

Our defensive stats are killer so far this year because of Mashack and significantly better defense from Gainey though imo rather than Lanier. Okpara has also been excellent. Milicic has done really well, probably similar to JJJ

Not sure I agree on the defensive end. Knecht had length to affect shots and make up ground when beat that Lanier doesn't have.

Lanier has better foot speed to stay in front of other 2 guards and even some PGs. I also think his driving ability is underrated and he has been efficient at times in the mid-range game but has also put up some difficult shots due to some poor shot selection and not having DKs jumping ability and high release.

Overall, he has been better than expected and seems able to replace DKs production at UT....at least mostly. Chaz also seems unselfish and surprised that his new coach and teammates want him to shoot as much as they do. Easy kid to root for and wish I had known more about him last year so I would have gone and watched him live (I live in a Jacksonville suburb).
