No, I wouldn’t want to win the East every year. The East title is something you talk about about the SEC is something people remember. It doesent mean anything If you just make the playoffs either.

You can’t win the SEC without winning the East first. That said, putting up banners and giving out rings for winning the East is weak sauce.

For schools like UT, UF, UGA, Bama, AU and LSU, anything less than winning the SECCG is considered a disappointment....unless you’re one of those UGA fans who’s cool with having the upper hand over UF and UT currently, in spite of underachieving more than any other so-called big time program over the past four decades.

More often then not, making the CFP means you won your conference.

Yes, making the playoffs would be huge. When you make it and blow the championship game then have issues getting over the hump to even get back things start to be concerning.

Kirby has maybe 3 more years to win the whole thing and if he can't pull it off then he might find himself in Mark Richt territory.

Eventually UGA not being able to get over the hump will start being used against them in recruiting.

UGA has lost their OC and DC in the last two years, now Pittman. Hasn't taken long for the poaching to affect Georgia. Starting to see it some in Bama too. Had a UGA friend early on saying "you can have him!" wrt Chaney. Texted me after last night and said they would gladly take him back.

They were selected as "national champion" by various other selectors in 1942, but Ohio State is the AP National Champion that year, and is what is recognized.
