How on Earth could she possibly think that this would be helpful or move relations anywhere but backwards? Imagine the white journalists refusing in interview her because she's black. She thinks she shining a light on the imbalance of race in the Chicago media when she's really just making herself look like the biggest racist in town.

I never thought of that angle, can you imagine the backlash if one of the journalist just makes the comment "I didn't want to interview her anyway."

Several journalists who would qualify under her standard have said they won't take her up on the offer.

It's one thing for a private figure to take this stand. Completely different for an elected government official.

Exactly, if a regular citizen does this it's racist. If a government official does this it's institutional racism.


But seriously, she's a clown. She can ill afford to burn bridges with the media, with all the negative surrounding her and the city is about as stupid a move as one could make.

There are large portions of Chicago that could be said about. I used to visit every couple of years. I was there last about 4 years ago and decided then I wouldn't go back.

We enjoyed going there for weekends but I ended that long before I moved south. Like 20 years ago.

The more stories like this I hear I start to wonder how they define “black”. I mean as a practical matter. If you have one black grandparent, also you qualify? What if you are only 1/8 black? 1/16? How does one prove their blackness to Her Honour the Mayor? Will we have to start carrying id cards like Germans in the 1930s attesting to our racial composition? How does this work in the real world? I mean, after all, Elizabeth Warren may very well be 1/1024 Native American you know and she gets preferential hiring at Harvard

You used to be okay as long as you stayed near the miracle mile but that has even started to change as evidenced by last year’s looting. It makes me very sad because Chicago is still the only place you can get an authentic Italian Beef sandwich dipped in aus jus. I found one place in Atlanta but it just ain’t the same

And how does this equate with reparations? Does one get a monthly stipend for $1000 if both parents are part of original slaves? If one parent is white does it decrease by 5% dating back to the initial generation? What if your first generation Puerto Rican? Do you get $100 monthly stipend or you have to have some African descent even if you just got here? What about if you got some Jamaican? Who is pulling records? Can you pass the monthly stipend to your kids who are getting a monthly stipend? Does everybody alive today just get $50k and call it a day? Maybe a $1M? Will that make the wrongs righted and we can no longer discuss slavery and people have to stop biatching and gripping?

I have a better idea. Maybe we can get the democratic party to hire a research firm on the topic that gets rich and pads a few people pockets.
