You should...........

FDR held every thing together, every one was terrified of him except for George Marshall.

I wouldn't set the bar too high.

Not attempting to, but I just don't see it. I might be a Kennedy homer, but I would much rather have him any day of the week over Barack.

Yep. Another great President, especially in a Keynesian sense -- but that's for another thread ;-).

I'm surprised gsvol hasn't shown up yet.

I wasn't necessarily meaning Kennedy as the bar. I meant the bar in general.

You already know my answer to this -- there was in fact growth initially, which was slowed down by the 1937 attempt to balance the budget, and stop the influx of spending. The damn wasn't cured until the massive public works/spending project from 1941-45

I don't advocate deficit spending 24/7.

Never really have -- the times have called for it.

It's simply the matter that Washington officials don't know when to stop spending, because pork projects and votes are more important than economists.

Did JFK and RFK get what they deserved?

I've always wondered why Black September (violent wing of Arafat's PLO and under his direct command) demanded the release of Sirhan Sirhan.

I've never even seen that topic ever discussed.

Any ideas?

JFK steered the country, and humanity, through the single most dangerous week in the history of the planet. Bush invaded the wrong country, for the wrong reason, and let the economy go into the crapper.

Pardon me if I think you are comparing apples to a pile of s**t.

Time construction next four miles.

Watch for falling clocks.

I'd take JFK over Obama in a heartbeat.

The two shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence, paragraph or even page.

you think he realizes that his hero kennedy's supply side economic policies were the major reason for the economic growth in the 60s?

The Revenue Act of 1964 was initially aimed at the demand, rather than supply.

But yes, they can be attributed to economic success.

I have no problem with certain tax-cuts.

Only one reference to Islam.

I'm impressed.

George Marshall was just another one of FDR's boot lickers.

When I saw the first reply, I knew this thread would go south quickly, I was right.

Sam Giancana is to deficit spending as what is to what??

Keep your hard hat on and watch for falling clocks.

From "The Black Donnellys":

Kevin Donnelly: Tommy, me and Jimmy went downtown with goodness in our hearts to work out a deal. But Louie starts threatening me, I mean, what was I supposed to do?

Tommy Donnelly: Kevin, everybody knows who did this. You kidnap somebody, they're not supposed to know who you are.

Kevin Donnelly: Tommy you think we're stupid? We wore masks.

Tommy Donnelly: You went down there with goodness in your hearts, but you wore masks?

Happy hour at the bar???

Joey Ice Cream: The Irish have always been victims of negative stereotyping. I mean people think we're all drunks and brawlers. And sometimes that gets you so mad all you wanna do is get drunk and punch somebody.

How come there's no short bars that cater to midgets???

Sounds like some sort of discrimination against a minority to me!!!

I think there was one in New York City once upon a time, that catered to Irish dwarfs, but it was bombed by Puerto Rican terrorists who were eventually pardoned by Eric Holder which was big of him I thought, considering he isn't even Pureto Rican!!!

Oh wait, I'll bet he's prejudiced against leprechauns!!
