China already testing Obama

I'm talking about the radiation coming from mainland China. When any US warship passes between Taiwan and China they are lit up the entire time they go through. The US sailors will be subjected to extreme levels of radiation if they stay outside the hull for any length of time.

Our subs do not venture in that close, the continental shelf is too shallow and they are not needed there anyway. It doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to get the best topographical data that we can, for other underwater missions or data from their diesel subs (which are extremely silent and best for shallow water)

I would assume Taiwan has all sorts of sensors radiating as well. Anybody that passes through that strait, air or sea based, may get free birth control for awhile.

This reminds me, I used to work with a guy that served on an aircraft carrier and he used to tell me stories of standing in front of an F-14 (very powerful radar) while it was radiating and his skin would tingle.

That guy is an idiot.

I'm more worried about China refusing to buy more U.S. debt then this. I think this country is going to defeated financially before it will be militarily

USS Cole ring a bell? What do you thing that boat was?

USS Cole is a Navy destroyer that was at port. The USNS Impeccable is an unarmed ship used to map the ocean floor with sonar that was in international waters. A little difference.

Do you not think that is exactly what they want? China and other countries (ie Iran) constantly challenge us in this area and no other president has really done anything. Lets leave it to the Admirals.

not today's Navy or military, i don't admirals or generals having the power they used to. it has to be ok'd by the president or some other civilian. i see hussein making the final choice on anytype of response.

i know countries like china and iran do this all the time. we almost sank an iranian boat in gulf because they were getting too close.

my first thought was I have no idea what you're saying. My second was that I don't really care, given what I pieced together.

i'm saying that admiral do not have the decision making power as they once did when it comes to defending or making any retaliatory gestures. it all goes up to the president. the military has been become too micromanaged. you're such a tool bigpapa.

thanks for making my point

I honestly have no idea what your point was. BPV was drawing similarity between this and the attack against the USS Cole. While there are similarities that they are both boats, to think a terrorist would plan a suicide mission against the Impeccable in international waters is a bit of a stretch.

the point is that your "logic" of this not being a military ship, therefore safe, is beyond common sense

Are we talking eyeglass kit type tool or a compressed air driven ratchet? It makes a big difference, please give us some context.

smaller civilian ship driven to close proximity with a vessel with an American flag. I know if I was on that ship what happened to the Cole would certainly be on my mind.
