I feel like I've read that from multiple different sources (economists, think tanks, relevant professors) over the last few years. They have several sociological and economic bubbles that aren't likely to be sustainable. Wish I could remember where and provide some links.

it's a work of fiction, but Tom Clancy's "The Bear and the Dragon" paints a rather scary scenario of what could happen when China's financial bubble finally does burst.

They go to war with Russia again? (judging from the title)

That would be a situation where I could see them calling all of the US's debt in, and the US defaulting on their poor asses, with bad ramifications for our poor asses.

Lol, I'm going to have to look for the book I think to understand the chain of events that leads to that. TC is good about making it all make sense in process, but ending up at wild places.

Then again, if he wrote a book in 1999 about the US conducting military ops in 3 noncontiguous ME countries simultaneously, I'd be like "ya right."

The last Clancy I read was Rainbow Six. Next time I wander through McKays I need to look for Bear & Dragon.

as with any Clancy novel, he builds the story for close to 300 pages, perhaps more.

The whole country is a sham. There are numerous China companies that trade here on the NYSE that are being haulted and removed from the exchanges because the companies trade on ficticious data. The 52 week low list is littered with them

Remember on 9/11 when CNN was interviewing him because of his novel about terrorist attacks on DC? Ended up putting Jack Ryan into the Big Office.

Airplanes were used to attack the Capitol building in the book.

Was that Rainbow Six? Can't remember. R6 was the last book I read, of his. Dude has some inside information.

"Debt of Honor" It was Japan flying a plane into the Capital Bldg and if I'm not mistaken "Executive Orders" is the sequel where Ryan is the new President.
