Just got tickets to the final homestand. Honestly hope he makes it there.

Sad to see one of the best go, but I think it was a year overdue. Really feel he should have retire after this past season.

He wants one more chance at the postseason. Can't really blame him, especially after 2010.

What a career. Definitely one of my childhood favorites. Made me want to try switch hitting when I played little league... I failed, miserably.

According to Fangraphs WAR, Chipper is the 35th best positional player, high than such names as: Ken Griffey Jr., Reggie Jackson, Al Simmons, Willie McCovey, Derek Jeter, Carlton Fisk, Ernie Banks, and Robin Yount.

Yessir. Very near Griffey, and they fall in as the 2nd and 3rd best #1 picks of all time, probably.

Mantle was the greatest switch hitter of all time imo. Chipper is a close second though.

EDIT: Oops forgot to read the part "NL"

No way, Rose was a much better switch hitter than Eddie. I wouldnt even have Eddie as fourth. I would have him fifth behind Mick, Chipper, Rose, and George Davis

Eddie has a higher slugging percentage, higher OPS, higher OPS+.

They both have about the same splits in terms of one side being significantly higher than the other.

It's pretty close.

Hard to say this about a guy with 4,200+ hits, but Pete Rose is overrated.

Who is the best?

I'd say Chipper surpasses Jr as a #1 pick, because he played 20 great years for the team that drafted him.

Alex. Rodriguez.

I think you're talking best career as a #1 pick while he's talking best #1 pick as it worked out for the organization making the pick.

If that's the case, you're both right.
Career: A-Rod
Team: Chipper

Although I'm shocked Bryce Harper wasn't your response. You disappoint me.
