I am interested to see if AU gets to keep ALL their buyout money owed to Chizik. People have said there is a clause in his contract that says if he is caught in NCAA violations, they could owe him nothing. Talk about a cha-ching kind of moment.

Actually heard on a sports talk show about a month ago that he may be retained until this time next year for the same reason.....to let it drop one more time. Looks like we need to get a coach and get him now.

If Petrino is that good, why doesn't Arky just re-hire him. If he is considered a cast off, why would we or anyone else want him in the SEC (except for someone like KY)?

Petrino's coaching abilities aren't the problem; he's a fantastic football coach. It's the fact that he's a raging scumbag personally that gives some teams pause.

There are serious ethical issues with Petrino. He wasn't fired for the affair, it was giving her a job and $20k and misleading the university and the cops about the whole situation. All things considered, he got off easy compared to the punishment he could have received in the "real" world.


I wouldn't want that filth anywhere near my program.

Because Arky has a Mike Hamilton type AD. He went out of his way to put that crook John L. Smith in charge.

I said before their championship that the second Malzahn left it would all fall apart at Auburn and that Chizik was not a good coach. Turns out I was right.

It will be interesting to see who they hire. Fisher and Petrino are the names I keep hearing.

Why fire him? Who are they going to get with the sanctions looming? Unless it was like out situation with Pearl in which the NCAA basically told them they basically had to fire him and if that was the case they should fire him for cause and not pay his buyout.

If true I would have to believe he has been working for A&M all along. What better way to join a conference than to burn one of the power teams to the ground creating a nice power vacuum, then once mission one was accomplished go to the in state rival and burn it down too.
