Was interesting to see him with Romney this weekend and sure looks as though he may be angling for VP slot.

He looked pretty bad though. Seems like he gained a lot more weight.

Was he american born? Thought you had to meet the same qualifications to be potus as vp

Born in Miami I think.

I don't remember that as being a pre-req for veep, though. Although it would be silly to be veep and have to resign if you had to take over.

Side note, did you know William Henry Harrison was the first pres to die in office and there was a constitutional crisis. Although we take it for granted nowadays, back then there was no line of succession and it wasn't immediately evident that the constitution meant for the veep to become pres.

I will be severely disappointed in Christie if he has anything to do with the Romney campaign.

Being disappointed in a politician is nothing new.

True. However, he was one of the few politicians I could stomach. I really liked what he was doing in NJ.

He endorsed Romney 3 months ago

Eh. Damn it...you were right. I just looked it up; I must have missed it being overseas. Christie just went down a few notches in my book.

NJ Gov. Chris Christie Threatens Protester - YouTube

I honestly do not see how he can run for higher office given his weight. I understand that the country places too much emphasis on the issue, and on personal appearance altogehter. But he is so enormous at this point that it is impossible to ignore and would represent an obvious health problem.

Guy should eat subway for a year, or do Jenny Craig, or something, then be one of those guys that holds up his old belt and touts some weight loss program. He'd be a billionaire in about 3 weeks.

I love the title of that video. I'm sure the protester felt very threatened.

They cut it off, too. He follows it up with, "You're not mad at me. You're mad at Obama, because he promised you the world, and you think it still sucks." (paraphrasing)

I absolutely did not pick that video for content. It was the best one i saw on the first page that showed his weight.

I am barely aware of some controversy about some comments he made. Really not interested in that.

It shouldn't matter but it reaches a point ...

It's amazing how much physical appearance and the ability to speak publicly plays into people's voting decisions. The debates of 1960 were the turning point in presidential campaigns. The invention of HD filming and 24 hour news networks have only made it worse.

Valid point.

Looking the part is a major factor in politics at all levels. And if you think about the last presidents starting with Regan, they all to some degree or another are cut from the same mold.

I remember SNL repeatedly mocking Clinton for his weight issues. Remember the skits where Phil Hartman played Clinton out for a jog and stopping at a McDonald's and woofing down everything in sight? I thought it was hilarious.

But with Christie, his weight is so out of proportion, that similar skits would probably seem to cross the line.
