I think, like a lot of other guys, he wants to see that Tennessee is not going to have another 5-6.

I don't think the biggest problem is last year's record. I think the much bigger problem is that UT has now started to be discussed nationally as a team that recruits great talent but doesn't develop that talent.

I don't buy it.

You don't buy what? You don't buy the idea that UT's coaching staff has done an absolutely crappy job of developing talent over the past five or so years, or you don't buy the fact that national coverage of this phenomenon could be hurting our recruiting?

Don't develope talent? its not always the coaches fault for not getting to the nfl. The player has to have that extra work ethic to make it to the NFL. I think we will recruit good after a great season this year..another thing that would help us recruit better would be a huge win over CAL sept.2. If we beat a top10 cal team i believe that would show top prospects we are for real

either one.

I don't think we have done a great job developing talent recently but I also don't think it's a national topic that is on every recruits mind.

 Examples: Jabari Davis, Riggs, Chris Hannon, CJ Fayton, Cory Campbell, Munoz, Sean Young, Jason Respert.......these guys never hit the level they needed to.

Jabari Davis? please vince Lombardi couldn't get him into the NFL that is not the Coaches fault Jabari Davis got fat and out of shape...riggs never stepped up...hannon fast bust no hands same as fayton. it also dont help get hannon and fayton into the nfl with a QB like Ainge throwin the ball. Ainge never got them the ball the coaches weren't throwing to them.

Whatever! Its the same excuses I've heard and thats WHY they were FIRED! Develop somebody, thats why you recruit and coach.

I agree about Davis. Riggs had fumble problems and problems finding the classroom.

Campbell lost his focus. His production dropped, he got in some trouble and then decided to quit.

Munoz stayed hurt his entire career.

We have definitely had some guys that were highly rated that didn't pan out as does every school.

A lot of thes guys were overrated. I can't believe the J-Train had a big layout standing on some Train tracks in SI just after national signing day. Give me a break. Daniel Brooks is another example.

CJ Fayton was our best WR last year and the only one I felt like could catch a ball that was thrown decently. Also, I don't think he was that highly touted, so he probably played above expectations. The rest of the wide receivers certainly haven't played to their potential.

The "can't develop" label is a little bit ridiculous if you look at the facts. Look at how many NFL players are from each different college program. UT is STILL up towards the top. And, every one of the players in the NFL right now that went to UT were coached by Fulmer. Has he produced as much talent lately? Obviously not. But, "cant" is a little bit ignorant to say. The better question is will he again? From the looks of this summer and fall camp with the new staff it looks promising.

hannon and fayton were qb's in high school, then taught to be a wr by an option qb from awbun. anyone can do the math there.

If Chris were to sign now, you would not be mentioning his name again for a long time. If he is like most SuperStars, he likes the limelight. Be patient grasshopper, if he is a real Vol, he will sign with the Volunteers.

Dont link Chavis in the group that doesnt develop talent, His record speaks for it's self, he's put several LBs in the league, Wilson, Burnett, Thompson, Simon, Moore, etc. So it's not that Tennessee LBs dont go to the NFL, I think he may see UT as on the way down, while ND is all over the ESPN hype machine

Just wanted to know if anyone has any inside info on wher Chris Donald is going to commit. Man UT can't miss out on this one, he is too good. Can you imagine a linebacking corps: OLB Rico McCoy,MLB: Gerald Williams :crossfingers: , OLB Chris Donald would be a NASTY LB crew. I just hope we don't lose another in-state guy. Go VOLS:rock2:

No info but I can tell you that I watched a Todd Campbell video and he said that he was working on Chris. Something about the way he talked made me belive that Donald was all vol. Maybe it's just my orange colored glasses.

Respert? Fayton? I remember both of them having decent careers at UT. Lay down the hippy lettuce fellas, I know there is a bad taste in your mouths from last year but dang, try to reach for something positive about the Vols sometime.
