We'll see if anybody steps up. Leinart, Bush and Peterson are the big ones going into the season.

As for Chris Leak, he is overrated but he is still good. I relegate all of Florida's failures this year directly onto the shoulders of Ron Zook. Poor coaching is the only reason they could have that kind of record this year, they are still a very talented team. It's just getting put to waste is all.

He has just as much chance at the Heisman as anyone. It has nothing to do with being the best player. I think that was proven when Peyton didn't get it.

Chris Leak will win a Heisman when pigs fly, Phil Fulmer becomes a model for GQ, and Tommy Gallion declares Tennessee the cleanest program in the SEC and a model for others to follow.

You can pretty much go on what ESPN says about the Heisman. I am pretty sure that is where the voters go to see how to fill out their ballots. I mean seriously look at the list of past winners.
2004 Matt Leinart Southern California QB
2003 Jason White Oklahoma QB
2002 Carson Palmer Southern California QB
2001 Eric Crouch Nebraska QB
2000 Chris Weinke Florida State QB
1999 Ron Dayne Wisconsin RB
1998 Ricky Williams Texas RB
1997 Charles Woodson Michigan DB/WR
1996 Danny Wuerffel Florida QB
1995 Eddie George Ohio State RB
1994 Rashaan Salaam Colorado RB
1993 Charlie Ward Florida State QB
1992 Gino Torretta Miami QB
1991 Desmond Howard Michigan WR
1990 Ty Detmer Brigham Young QB
These obviously werent the best players each of the respective years in question. Look each of them up in the pros. Most aren't there. Who gives a sh*t who they give it to. I agree Leak won't win it because they probably won't be one of the top five teams(seems to be a requirement nowadays), but it has nothing to do with being the best player.

Statistics-wise, this last year, there were three standout QB's. Jason Campbell was by far the best in the SEC, throwing at nearly 70% with 20 touchdowns, 7 interceptions and a rating of 144.9. David Greene and Chris Leak were in distant second and third places. As far as a QB ratings standpoint goes, Erik Ainge, Jay Cutler and Matt Jones rounded up the rest of the standout QB's in the SEC.

This last year, though, Chris Leak DID perform pretty well. He may very well be the best QB in the SEC going into next season. He threw 59.6% for 3197 (10th most in D-IA), 29 touchdowns (10th in D-IA) and 12 interceptions.

It should be noted, though, that in what amounted to be basically half a season, Ainge threw 55.1% for 1452 yards, 17 touchdowns (Greene and Campbell each threw 20 TD's) and 9 interceptions.

So, if Ainge can get more pocket time, he will be the best QB in the SEC. But he will also need to become much better. If Florida turns around, Chris Leak will get a lot of attention, but probably not Heisman.

Really? And how many games did he lead Florida to victory in? Just because he had the numbers don't mean he's the best in the SEC by far.....Ainge will put him to shame this year

Jay Cutler is a decent QB, as well... Then again, it's effing Vanderbilt.

Last season, Jason Campbell was by far the best QB in the SEC. This next season will be between Ainge and Leak.

You can throw passer ratings out the window when it comes to the Heisman. Look at Peyton, need I say more.

It's going to take Florida winning the SEC and competing for the NC for Leak to get the kind of press he'll need, and I don't think they have a chance.

Great QBs find a way to win.

I never made the Heisman arguement. Just that he is a good QB. It's just that the whole team lacked the fourth quarter juice this season to finish strong, and I believe that to be entirely the fault of Ron Zook.

Whether or not Leak even has a prayer of being top 10 for Heisman contention is debatable, but the fact is that he is a talented player.

Great coaches find a way to win, great quarterbacks find a way to facilitate that.

ehhh.............just because he throws a pretty spiral doesnt mean anything. did you see the UF/UM game? he was scared of getting hit so he would slide before getting to the 1st down marker while scrambling. not to mention half of his passes were thrown off his back foot

Yeah, and how many INT's did he throw that game too? :shakehead: He's the best QB in the SEC alright HAHAHAHA......He looked terrible in the Peach Bowl and blew games against LSU and games such as that, that the gators had a shot at winning...Oh well..Any gator loss, is a good loss

I don't know why most of you refuse to see Chris Leak as a threat... Statistically, he is the SEC's top quarterback heading into next season, and very possibly one of the best QB's in the whole country if Urban Meyer's offense works out well.

So what if he gets put under pressure? When the Pats were pressuring Peyton, he looked like a complete rookie. It happens to all of them, especially young QB's in college. You'd all better hope for the absolute worst from Urban, because if not, his coaching style and the level of existing talent in the Swamp will be able to defeat near any team in the country.

I think that the BIG reason why we lost in the Peach Bowl the last time we went there was because we were in a bowl that we really didn't want to be in....We should have gotten a better bowl game that year....Cal is a perfect example of that....This year, they could have went to the Rose Bowl but the commitee picked Texas above them....Cal should have gotten a better bowl but not the Rose Bowl....Texas and Michigan made for a better anyways....I think Michigan(as much as I don't like them) would have blown Cal out

I don't think it would have been a blow out, but Michigan would have had a fair shot at winning. Vince Young completely took them by suprise. Michigan's defense had its sight set on Benson and Young blindsided them.

I agree...Young took them to school...How many rushing TD's did he have that game? Wasn't it like 2 or 3? I know he looked like Heisman material this year with his foot work and speed...He was haulin the mail

Michigan v/s Cal though, I think it wouldn't have been that close.....I mean Cal is a good team but watching them play in that bowl game is what makes me say that Michigan would blow them out...It looked like they didn't even want to be in a bowl game, IMO.....Might be wrong though...Guess we'll never know unless we get this match up in the next couple of years

Next year if by some slim chance USC slips up and loses a game....Who do you all want to see us face in the NCG? I would like to see us face Michigan, Va Tech, or Miami

Milo, I couldn't have said it better myself...I've got a friend of mine...His Mom is a BIG Michigan fan and she's all the time calling us trailor trash and this and that but do you think from the sounds of that she remembers what the score was the last time we played them? 45-17...I'd love to see a replay of that...Heck man I just want another shot at Auburn to shut them up from this year....They think because they beat us twice in one year(and I'll give them credit, they were AWESOME this year) that they're our Daddies...Oh well..I hope they enjoyed their success this year because they won't experience that kind of successs next year

I hate that school... I hate their football, I hate their fans.

With my mom being a former student at Ohio State as well as myself following the Longhorns since I was little, you can only begin to appreciate how exstatic this house was after the Rose Bowl.

Man this house was going crazy during the PEACH BOWL...LOL....Any time the gators lose its a good day...Just as long as the VOLS don't lose on the same day....I've never liked Michigan....Where I go to high school at down here, we had two boys from my high school go up there and play for them...you ever heard of Eric or Phillip Brackins? I believe they both played Linebacker if I'm not mistaken...But man Eric was awesome...I still hated Michigan though....I've never really liked them...And to be honest, I've never really liked OSU but when they beat Miami in the NCG a couple of years ago...I was happy lol
