Read the article...Lowe gives all the reasons...he's from S.Carolina, he can have control of the entire D, Saban is a wanker...so on and so on

I don't have a huge problem with misspelling there or their or very many things, but people deserve to have their names spelled correctly IMO especially when quoting them or linking to their blog on which their name is clearly visible, and especially in a thread title when it's being viewed by the entire board. It's Chris "Low".

Not trying to be rude, just a pet peeve.

If we don't get O then I was hoping we could get Steele back as DC in waiting.

Wonder if Kiffen feels the same way?

how do I spell douche...is that correct Saban? Go and look at my posts and count how many misspellings I've made and then come talk to me. One freaking mistake and you gotta be a tool bag...this is just a message board not the Times...that is my pet peave, not being rude or anything I just can't stand wankers.

In an attempt to get back on topic, what do you guys think about this? Steele leaving Bama could not be a bad thing from my POV, but many Bammers say that he would only leave for a HC job. He's being paid well and is the Head Defensive Coach at Bama. Do you see him leaving for less money and in essence a downgrade in titles? I really don't unless there is more to the Saban animosity angle than has been reported.

I'd rather have Steele than Coach O any day of the week.

Happy to get either, but much prefer Steele.

+1

BTW, Low also said coach O to UT about 3 weeks ago and still no confirmation.... I would sure love to see Kiffin make a run at Steele! Especially if O is wavering...

I would love to get Steele if we couldn't get Orgeron. But there is no comparison. Orgeron was one of the best, if not the best, recruiters in America. What gets overlooked though is he is a dang good position coach as well.

I'd settle for Steele, but between the two...it's a no-brainer for me.

What is with this Steele talk? You honestly think that Steele would leave Bama to come to UT and be a position coach? You're out of your mind. I think it's a stretch to say he would leave his position to become a Defensive Coordinator, but a position coach? Even DC in waiting. You guys are nuts. Steele has put up with whatever beef he may or may not have with Saban for 2 years. It doesn't appear to be as big of an issue as some on here make it out to be. I promise you he is not going to take a pay cut and two steps down the ladder to take a lowly position coach job. Won't happen, and if you think it has any possibility of occurring, you're off your rocker.

He has said before after leaving Baylor that he has no desire in being a Head Coach again. That could always change, but his feelings were pretty strong at the time.

I do not think we would get him just based on his relationship with Saban. They do have beef, but it seems they are doing okay with the working relationship.

However, if he came here as a DC-in-waiting, he could learn under Monte, and would have the same amount of power he does now. He does not call plays for the defense. If promised to be the heir apparent, it might be appealing to him.

Not saying it would ever happen, but it could be a possibility if done that way.

If we can't get him. Then by all means someone else take him. Ruin that party they have going on in tuskalooserville.

Saban gave him the title of Head Defensive Coach and made him an associate head coach specifically because he aspires to become a head coach again at some point. I don't care what he said after Baylor, that was 6 years ago and it was Baylor.

He is already learning from one of the brightest defensive minds in Saban so I doubt learning under Monte would be any draw for him. You put too much stock in that. It's not any reason to take a pay cut and a serious demotion.

As for being the DC in waiting, why would he care anything about that when he already has a Head Defensive Coach title? Doesn't make any sense. Why not stay with Bama and then move to take over the defense when Monte leaves if that's what he wants to do?

Some of you put way too much stock in the fact that Steele played and coached at Tennessee previously. He's coached in the NFL and been a head coach since then. Now he's a step below the head coach at Alabama. Why would he give that up to become a position coach? Lots of people don't like their boss at work. Doesn't mean they leave the company to become a janitor at another.
