Chris Williams - Football Recruiting

Scout.com: Chris Williams Profile

Chris Williams is considered the top LB prospect in the state after earning AP Defensive Player of the Year honors in Class 5A. He is a ferocious hitter who is also great out in space in pass coverage; Williams can bench 345 pounds and squat 550. He also claims a 29 inch vertical jump.
Williams finished his junior season (13-2) with 90 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, three fumbles caused and two recovered.

Williams reports a 3.3 core GPA and a 1200 SAT (three parts), which he is retaking in May.

Williams:
"I'm a quick, downhill player. I have an instinct you can't teach. It's just natural for me and I play from sideline-to-sideline. I play with a lot of determination and just always want to be the best player on the field.

"I've always had someone older than me pushing me to be better. Next year I'm gonna be the older guy and I'm gonna have to push myself to get to that next level. When I'm working out I'm always thinking there's somebody out there who is working just as hard, which makes me go even harder.

"I hit it hard. I always end my workout with curls and abs. My motto is first one in, last one out."

Ht: 6-foot-0
Wt: 230 lbs
Forty: 4.52 secs

I like what I see. 4.5 forty and some good size. I'd love to land him.

That's good news. Remember, Texas wants the home kids to commit early and if they don't, they lose a little interest.

Texas is waiting on his test scores and once he gets them in order they will offer. And he will commit.

It doesnt say he is going to commit to them when he gets the offer but he really wants an offer from them and I will bet if and when they do he will. If they want him they will get him. Texas doesnt let Texas kids leave that they want.

Did they not want Lennon Creer? Better yet, what about Adrian Peterson?

They didn't go after Lennon b/c he didn't commit early.

They did go after Lennon and he chose not to commit early. What you just said doesn't even make sence. Why would they want him to commit early if they didn't go after him?

NC is right. They pushed for an early commit, he didn't give it. So they didn't pursue him after that.

He's partly right. I'm aware of Texas' commit deadline. The fact that Creer didn't commit doesn't change the fact that they wanted him.
