Cigar /Pipe Smoking thread

Though I’ve acquired a taste for most barrel aged spirits, my recent pairings have been with neat Tennessee sipping whiskey (Nelson’s). My current reading matter includes book 5 of the stormlight archive by Brandon Sanderson and Becoming True Worshippers by M. Thomas Seaman.
A friend of mine is reading Stormlight. I just jumped into Wheel of Time, which Sanderson wrote the last 3, because of him talking about Stormlight. I’m usually not a high fantasy guy, but WOT does a good job of not having too much of the subplots that sometimes get super confusing (looking at you Game of Thrones).

This morning’s sunrise smoke is a Record Bond Edition Limitada Mark I. It’s just above freezing, still, and clear. The resident birds are singing territorial songs. Especially notable are three area Carolina wrens.

This morning, it’s 52 degrees at dawn. The birds are singing like it’s Spring. I even hear a robin. The post-breakfast smoke is a BDL Connie.

Such a fine Spring-like afternoon, thought I’d try a La Alianza natural robusto.

Edit: médium body, a little earthy, a little woody, nice spice with prominent black pepper, a hint of… caramel. Ecuadorian wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and long fillers.

This morning’s sunrise smoke is a Agnora leaf New Cuban maduro robusto, the second of my recent purchase of “bundle cigars.” This is stated to be a Cuban sandwich of Nicaraguan agnora leaf filler and binder with a maduro wrapper. Cedar, earth, coffee, and spice with the barest hint of cocoa. I will enjoy these and the La Allianza cigars while I have them, but the better value are the BDLs from Tabacalara Pages.

The band came off with the cellophane sleeve.

It’s below freezing this morning, and my butt-freezing smoke on the porch is the second to last La Alianza natural robusto.

Previously, I posted about my purchase of bundle cigars for $1.99/stick on a ten-pack deal from Cigar Page. Honestly, I won’t do this again. Raymond Pages BDLs are of much better quality and flavor, and they’re worth the ~$3.33/stick in bundles of 15. I haven’t found a better value. BDLs are made to the same standards as Raymond Pages premium brands with long leaf fillers having complex flavor profiles. Raymond Pages blends are spicy, pepper forward on first lighting, developing complexity as you smoke them. If this appeals to you, try them.
