He all but accepted the job at Colorado. Not exactly a big name job.
I thought he turned them down at the last minute to stay at Cincy? Kinda the same way Strong was a sure thing to be our next coach, but turned us down in the end.
Colorado is an even bigger rebuilding job than UT, but in a worse conference. He may have flirted with that job for more money at Cincy, but he was on the verge of taking them to a BCS bowl.
Tuberville has really hurt that team this year, IMO.
He didn't turn down Colorado. He had one foot out the door when Tennessee called, and he stopped in his tracks and turned south
He turned down Co after deeply considering because he was going for our job. Butch said that. Whitt Babcock, Cincy AD, was furious when he accepted the UT job. He wanted the UT job since he went to Neyland.
That's the story that I love. He kept holding out on Colorado and Purdue to make a run at the UT job. If he doesn't get the UT job last year, he'd have Cincinnati in the top 10 right now and he'd be the hottest coach on the market.
