Knew of him marginally, but recently a conversation with Luther had me look into him further. I respect his early endeavors, but as with all politicians he made some debatable decisions in his political career, but such is the life of a politician. If everyone agrees with you all the time you'd have to be the second coming.

Great man. Met him once. You can disagree with his politics but he had bigger balls then any of us here.

From the son of an Alabama sharecropper to Congressman and national leader. He risked his life to be on the right side of history as a very young man. He was beaten so badly in Montgomery he could've died right there. We shouldn't be divided on the reality that walking across the bridge in Selma was the epitome of courage. The story of a white supremacist who attacked him in South Carolina and later in life came to apologize is moving. John Lewis offered grace, and they cried together. Respect him for it or not, he pushed us forward.

I wonder what kind of tricks they will pull between now and November to keep Angela Stanton from winning that seat? They DO NOT want a Trump supporting black woman to win that seat...

I think it stinks. Just another example of us trying to erase and ultimately dilute history. For generations to come, visitors actually going on the Pettus Bridge will not have the same emotional affect and authenticity as going over the John Lewis Bridge. If the intent of most of these liberals is to stir up emotional reactions, then they need to leave the bridge as it was 55-60 years ago.

Just my opinion...
