Heup will need to have hard conversations after our bowl game with some scholarship players who will never play in the SEC. He'll need to make scholarship room for higher quality players and position depth who can maintain the UT brand. Hard reality for a coaching and playing in the SEC.

Hell, send this information to him ASAP before all the good players are scooped up from the portal. I bet none of our coaches have even thought of this idea. You should also send your resume to UT's athletic department. Don't sleep on this novel idea.

He doesn't strike me as a guy who gives up on his guy. I mean if we went by this logic we would've gotten rid of Hyatt last year when he didn't do much.

Perhaps he could work on letting some fans go instead to make room for some better ones. The fan portal awaits:

Meanwhile, lets see if we can reel in the recruit class we are targeting and get a full roster before trying to get rid of players.

Sure.
He did that with Hodge and Beckwith.
Brian Maurer and Harrison Bailey.
Buchanan at DB. Fields at DB
He added Bru McCoy despite Tillman returning.

Our roster was not in position to really let anyone go. Now it is, especially with the biggest transfer portal on us.

Burrell was benched before injury.
I don't expect him back.
Rucker is another guy that probably needs to look around with the news guys coming in plus transfer portal.

Heup isn't Saban. He doesn't just USE players, run off the ones he doesn't develop. Treating them like an empty and discarded beer can after draining the contents. Heup actually cares about his players and see them through development. You may now return to your real home, BOL.

These things work out fine by letting the player# make their own decisions. Guys who don’t think they are going to play as much as they think they should will hit the portal. I’m sure coach Heupel and the position coaches will give guys their honest opinion if asked but it’s still up to the players. A friend of mine signed a scholarship way back in my day and he left after one season. He said he wasn’t asked to leave but it was clear to him that he wasn’t talented enough to ever play.
