I love how CJP goes hard after recruits who are committed to other schools. If he wants them, he goes for them until they sign an LOI, somewhere.

That is the attitude the 'Bammers have... and have had since Saban got there.

Given the facilities, tradition and fan-base on Rocky Top, a Tennessee coach should carry himself with that kind of swag. I like it... a lot.

Good news, He can recruit and flip a guy who has made a commitment. Bad news, you get a guy who will go back on his commitment.

Actually, Urban Meyer was the one who started this all's fair in love and recruiting.

And look what his teams are in the hunt for, late, in almost every season since he has been a P5 coach.

Whoever started it... I'm just glad CJP adheres to it.

The only committed player that I can remember Jones ever flipping is Joshua Dobbs. (Who was committed to ASU.)

Can anyone think of others?

UT should be taking swings at the best still available... all day, every day. If they haven't signed an LOI, they're available. Hope this is a CJP core philosophy, and not just an "early career" anomaly.

Way to locate the negative. Search hard enough and you will find something to not like. :)

Wasn't Byrd committed to Miami?

Why should a coach care? The worst that can happen is the recruit says no and goes somewhere else.

I think OP was trying to say how bada** it is that CJP is absolutely on a tear in recruiting and not taking no for an answer. Not trying to be that guy but why bring a negative to the argument?

Or Cade Mays

Or a lot of players. Every year. Some that flip to us, some that flip away. Some that turn out to be great Vols after committing to someone else. Would you turn away OG because he was committed to UCLA. How about Quay who is currently committed to Alabama. Maybe some of these guys would have committed to Tennessee originally if Pruitt had been here longer than a month and a half. If you try to find a negative in everything you will probably succeed I guess. :loco:

Agree....and with today's limited numbers, hosting the big boys just may pay off with a few surprises...like we have already seen...

Or maybe we did not get the film or the player committed before we had a chance to offer. if we had a few other recruits considering who play the same position. There are tons of reasons why we would offer a guy who is committed elsewhere and them flipping is not a bad thing, it does not mean the kid is a bad person.

Lot of factors were involved in that example such as a change in coaching regime and AD. Important decision for any young athlete in regards to their future. Win some, lose some, but don’t be afraid to try.

CBJ did the same thing. Not looking them up, but Byrd, Richmond, and Kongo come to mind easily. Jones got them, just didn't know what to do with them. I predict we see excellent play from lots of current players that Jones recruited. Personally don’t see Pruitt as any magician. Ala, Ga, and FSU will continue to have great recruiting classes without Pruitt there.

sure hope Coach P can flip Campbell, from Florida, who's one of the best DB's in the nation...just read where he's coming for a visit...I don't remember his name even being mentioned as a visitor...was thought to be going to Georgia or Miami...so you just never know...would be a "big" get...and,

GO VOLS!

Commitments mean nothing... it’s who is signed

Not really. There is a clear difference between the players Pruitt and his staff are targeting and what Butch did.

Sure. But it's hasn't been good for UT. Perhaps Pruitt can play hardball.
