if you don't want to immerse yourself too deeply, you can try any of a variety of CD's by Eric Kunzel and the Cincinnati Orchestra or Louis Clark's "Hooked on Classics".

"Hush" by Yo Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin has some interesting (and beautiful) arrangements.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. It will take me awhile to get my feet wet. I have been amazed by this one today "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Symphony No. 25 in G minor"

‪Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Symphony No. 25 in G minor‬‏ - YouTube

Make sure when you listen to Classical music, especially symphonies, is that you are aware that they are usually pretty long.

For example, that YouTube clip is of the 1st movement of Mozart's 25th Symphony. There are three more movements to complete that symphony.

I. Allegro con brio
II. Andante
III. Menuetto and Trio
IV. Allegro

My favorite is Stravinksy's Firebird Suite

Here's the finale - it was used as the intro to Siberian Khatru on Yessongs

The Inferno is intense. I don't usually use that word in describing classical music, but it is.

It really is. Each of my HS years we performed one of the songs in concert. I loved getting to play the 1st Horn part in Purgatorio. Smith took care of us horns in that song.

An incredible arrangement, I first played this at a UT summer band clinic for HS students back in the early 90s.

Might be worth watching Woody Allen's A Midsummer's Night Sex Comedy - lots of classical music as the soundtrack and an entertaining flick.
